Heh, he posts everywhere.

FWIW, I tried some 5W30 that he recommended and it was OK, but not as special as I'd hoped given the price.

I'm currently running some Mobil1 10W40 (I think) that they sell in France for the equivalent of £25 - next time you do a booze cruise, its worth collecting a couple of 5l bottles of Mobil1 from the Carrefour in Cite Europe to go with the rest of the duty free  s:) :) s:)

Hmm, I'd like to see those tests done back to back on a rolling road. for a 1/4 mile there are too many variables - quality of the launch, tyre pressures, heat of tyres etc etc.

ISTR that Simon had some tests done with a Honda, and they showed a ~2-4bhp difference on back to back runs with an engine producing around 160bhp

For me, that's too small a difference to be repeatable.

For my PE Turbo, I'm well aware that the oil cooler and oil has a much harder life than in a standard 1ZZ lump - so I always use fully synthetic as it is more temperature stable.

Keep on reading after the 1st post.  s;) ;) s;)

I agree that the 1/4 mile depends so much on other factors, that it tells nothing about this matter..
