Title: Misting headlights
Post by: Anonymous on November 3, 2003, 14:21
A pair of headlight units went on EBAY for £57.91 plus postage on 12th Oct. I was only after an o/s one so bid for the one slacey spotted. Got it for £20.00 plus posteage. The new cost of these from MrT before any discount is £80.00 incl VAT. The seperate seal is about £5.20 incl VAT.

Who has taken one of these units apart to re-seal it or paint the base to match the car colour? Bearing in mind both parts are plastic or similar were special tools used?

BTW my car is out of warranty, so it's DIY.

I have stripped & painted mine. Tools required are:

1 x Oven
2 x Flat headed screw drivers
1 x Pair of oven gloves
(although i used leather motorbike gloves as better sense of touch)

Instruction are floating around this site somewhere if you wanna do a search. I think it was on the appearance forum    s:? :? s:?

Have to open one of mine again as i haven't sealed it properly     s:cry:  s:cry:
