Hi All,
Just had a search and can't quite find what I'm after ..... but I'm sure someone'll prove me wrong.
I took my MR2 into MrT a few weeks back because of an engine management light on. They said it was an o2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1). I paid them 250 quid (what a mug) and they kndly replaced it. After a few runs thereafter the light came on again. Just taken it back to MrT and they say that Bank 1 Sensor 2 is now dead. So I have a few questions ....
is this common?
is there an underlying fault that could cause 2 to fail at the same time?
is it ok to buy the generic 4 wire o2 sensor from gendan for this?
http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_O24WIRE.html
which sensor is Bank 1 sensor 2?
and does anyone have any tips for replacement?
If it's relevant it's a pre 03 UK car. Sorry for all the questions, thanks all!
Ian.
It's fairly common.
There probably isn't an underlying fault, just age - and/or they got the wrong code the first time...
Generic is fine (that's definitely covered in other threads)
It's the one AFTER the main cat (again, definitely in other threads)
cheers Aaron.
After switching my brain on I found some better posts to help me through this.
I've found a really useful diagram from a previous post which may help some people http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10854&highlight=resistor+heater
