Title: another soft top design flaw
Post by: kanujunkie on July 27, 2008, 17:46
we all know about the usual hole thats generated like this

which Mr.T fixed on the 05 onwards by adding this little foam cuff that goes over the square frame on the inside

now what i've found is the cable that goes between the 2 points in the photo, at its lowest point it has a ring tag on it, which rubs though the fabric skin as it goes up and down, both sides on mine have worn and the left has rubbed right through the skin. Theres 2 choices on a fix, one is to make the ring tag smaller, and the other is to remove it all together. One of the tags on mine was broken so i've removed it all together which doesn't seem to have any effect at all

this is the tag and the wear can be seen in the back ground. Its the point where the cable connects to the ring tag that cuts into the soft top

i'd personally be checking this as it seems a really bad design floor and i'll guarantee that there will be others who need to address this
