Title: Rusty Wheel Nuts
Post by: Comer on February 10, 2004, 15:34
My wheel nuts are starting to rust and that's the non locking ones.  I'm wondering how thin the alloy paint is on them!  I was expecting the wheels to be bubbling but they're fine.

Has anyone had the wheel nuts replaced under warranty?

Try taking one out and giving it a rub down with some autosol. it may be that they are a bit tarnished as they are so hard to clean.

Sorry I meant chrome.

Thinking back to the spring changing marathon at your house they did take a battering with the compressed air gun  s:D :D s:D

Ignoring the new springs and painted calipers etc, I wonder if Mr T will believe me when I say I haven't removed my wheels very often???

I'll try cleaning them properly first.

Funny, I was really impressed with how good the stock bolts were, the aftermarket ones I have for the 17's look like crap if you just take them outside for more than five minutes!

Is that since they have been re-coated with the anthracite paint?

I didn't have the bolts painted, I reckoned that taking them on and off would ruin the finish anyway - had the valve caps done though  s:wink:  s:wink:
