Title: ECV Emissions Control Valve?
Post by: Sam on February 24, 2004, 21:30
Just got a new airbox from the dealer and it has an additional attachment on the airbox which I am sure wasnt on the original one. Also I have had a very brief look under the hood of a friends mr2 and didnt see it there.

As far as I know it is an Emissions Control Valve - See the update on:

Am I going mad - or has anyone else got one of these in the UK?

The little hole on up-left of the pic is only in US MRs. Here is connected the VSV for canister closed valve (CCV) that joins charcoal canister to inlet duct. EU version doesn't have it. You must plug the hole with a rubber cap.

Thanks Maurizio, I thought that might be the case that it was a US/Japan only thing - everything in the workshop manual referred to the charcoal canistor seperately.

My dealer has provided me the wrong airbox lid as it has come attached with the valve and sensor.
