Hi All,
I'm looking at upgrading my brake system. Can anyone advise what are the choices available out there in terms of brand? I have 16 in wheels. Would that have clearance problems?

May I suggest you try using the search function - this topic has been covered previously in a lot of detail including the miriad of reasons that upgrading the brakes on the '2 is NOT a good idea.
Lampka has a kit for the mr2.
These is basically no good reason for upgrading the brakes. Even competition MR2's use the stock parts with only a pad upgrade.

a) considering the wheels on the top one are probably bigger than standard.. how come the discs still only just fit inside them (the gap indeed looks similar to the gap between standard discs & wheels).
And er, slightly more obviously..
b) How come the calipers are on the 'wrong' side of the disc in the top picture? (they're at the 'front' of the car, Craigs are at the 'back' of the wheel)....

The reason is because I just changed to the mrs from a 2002 WRX and the brakes were awesome. So now in comparison, the mrs brakes isn't as confident- inspiring. But what aaronjb pointed out is true. The pix doesn't look like it's stock disc and calipers.
By the way, I track once a month. So what pads is good then if I wana change.?

There are already threads about break pads, different discs, big brake kits...and they have a lot of info in them. I bet most of the guys who shared their info there won't do it again. So if you search, you will save us from going through the same stuff again and again
AND get more answers faster.

The GT300 class cars were alowed to use bigger brakes, so I imagine quite a few of them did. Especially for 24 hour endurance events etc.... Some teams didn't use anyting other than standard gear, and they got on just fine...
Theres not a lot wrong with the MR2's brakes, but beware that if you do change them you will have to spend an awful lot of time setting them up, they are going to cost a lot more money to maintain, they wont be covered by your warranty (along with the suspension components they are bolted too), they'll cost you increased insurance premiums, and they wont make a huge amount of difference...
