Hmmm photos not working... Hold on!
No pics!!
What exhaust system are you using?
Who did the engine conversion?
MWR manifold to OEM exhaust - upgrade planned but not sure what I want yet.
Conversion by Andy @ Bonsai WSM.
It was either this or put money into a VX220, quite glad i've gone down this route as its saved me money and am more than happy with the performance.
That's cool, I've been speaking with them about doing my car for me too.
Pics are working now.. Good work s:) :) s:)
Some more updates on the car and its first track day :-
Che Lotus Exhaust
Facelift Bumper Upgrade
Clear Side Repeaters
Also hard bolted shifter cage to chassis and removed rubbers - didnt bother with the solid mounts - cant see why you need them tbh ?
Found this absolutely necessary after the track day - occasionally missing gear. Much more rifle bolt now and comes home every time.
Some pics ;-

Looking good, how did it perform?
didnt miss a beat - flat out all day, v.hot too and no overheating. Just running a stock (but new) rad.
plenty of grip on the Kumho Ecsta SPTs. could really lean on them and car was really well balanced.
definitely felt that it lacked a bit of body control in the technical part of the track, but then I have no additional bracing or stiffening apart from the teins. it was when progressively loading the car in faster corners did it feel a bit wooly. otherwise very happy s:) :) s:)
good work done on this 2, are you happy with it all now after laps out s8) 8) s8) s:) :) s:)
Are you attending the toyota track day at Blyton? Looking forward to seeing some of these 2zz cars
Nope - not sure on what the next outing will be, although it will be something in the South. Probably Castle Coombe as my nearest,
Blyton will be a lot of fun I'm sure, but don't fancy the additional expense and journey time all the way up there from Bristol!
I know what you mean, I'm down in Hants but I thought it would be a good day.
I've booked brands for August 12 and will be booking this week goodwood sat 20th sept s;) ;) s;)
Who is tHe TDO for Goodwood?
Quite keen for that!
It's direct with them. I'll find the link, I'm going to just do the afternoon (will be booking it tomorrow) full day is a whopping £350!!
Always fancied goodwood myself s:) :) s:)

Small update - TD 1.2's fitted.
theses 2zz are so great they can hang out upside down due to improved power they hold s:wink:  s:wink: s:lol:  s:lol: s:lol:  s:lol:
no wonder so many people would love one s:) :) s:)
The photos are upside down?
Weird, they're showing fine on my iPad here.
Your not seeing the extra power then. The 2zz turned the world upside down, apart from the third pic where everything normal as the engine is off.
op pics upside down on mine too apart from the third.
don't know how to fix that one, !
they are all fine my end, and the site they are hosted on they are the right way up too.
must be some weird coding thing the forum is doing perhaps?
Pics are correct way up for me. Looking pretty nice s:) :) s:)
Got out on track again this weekend at Llandow.
Car was going well but had some issues with downshifting, still using the 5 speed gear selector so sure thats not helping. But also looks like the cables/arms at the rear have a bit of play which needs looking at.
then in the afternoon session my manifold to cat gasket went in rather spectacular fashion - cue a very loud drive home to Bristol!
managed to get a ride in a brand new 911 GT3 whilst there too. A good day out!

Pics aren't working btw
Not sure why it failed -haven't had a proper chance to look at it yet.
Pics fixed!
Pics working! Nice s:) :) s:)
Was good sharing the Tarmac with you sir :-p
Recently took the car for a blast along the black mountain pass in South Wales..
Amazing roads and scenery. Very jealous of the locals with this playground on their doorsteps!

s:D :D s:D great roads and you chose a good time looking at the pictures.
love the passenger blanket s:lol:  s:lol: s:lol:  s:lol: :
any information on the route you took s:) :) s:)
Tis indeed fantastic driving roads.
Handy tip = the rear bins are the perfect size for track day helmets & emergency passenger blanket for spontaneous roof dropping!
The route I took was roughly:-
Bristol to Usk
Usk to Llanginydr
Over the pass to Brecon
Brecon to Llandovery
Black Mountain Pass to Upper Bryanaman
On towards Hirwaun and down the A4061 Mountain road - also amazing.
Treorchy to Bryncethin
M4 to Bristol
A long day out - but well worth it for the roads!
I'm sure a few of us would join you next time from South Wales.
I know I would
Part of my ideal local drive the Black Mountain (A favourite with TopGear/5th Gear), my route would be Black Mountain, Llandovery, Llyn-Brianne, Abergwesyn, Garth, Upper Chapel. Brecon (stop for a cuppa) and home via Heol Senni, Ystradfelte.
The only thing I need now is a car!
Pete
A good day out at Llandow Circuit last Saturday.
Car went V.well. No Hiccups this time and sunny for a change!
Huge grip at Llandow, took quite a bit out of the front left.
Best lap of the day with my 90kg passenger was 51 seconds. Think I could of got low 50 on my own and with some stickier tyres easily into the 49's.
Next upgrades will be either AD08's or R888's. Change the pagids pads to yellowstuff. and possibly some bracing.
Then deciding on which track to try next.

As you have a PFL I would recommend matts TTE stlye mid brace before yellows stuff or track biased tyres.
The brace won't wear out like the others and really is a must have imho.
Cheers Scott.
Ordered a brace from Matt - eager to see what all the fuss is about!
Matts Brace now been fitted.
Nice little upgrade.
Wouldnt say night and day - subtle enhancement but worth doing.
Gave her a clean today.
Still scrubs up well.

Good to know Paul
I have one but it's not fitted yet :-) :-) :-)

Castle Combe was great last weekend - no rain and a very fun/quick circuit.
Car didnt miss a beat and had some great battles with some of the Kit car guys.
Lots of nice cars there, I was in the pits behind a beastly ultima. My car was shaking as he revved it up before we went out!
Glad to see someone enjoying a 2zz mr2 as it should be and having some fun!
Gives me a bit of hope that mine will be ok when rebuilt!
Do you record any footage?
Yep often record some Gopro footage but nothing uploaded to share I'm afraid.
Truth be told I get a bit bored with track day footage - so normally watch it back then delete it if there are no particularly lairy moments!
It always impresses on track and the 2zz suits it so well - sure yours will be fine once finished.
I just chuck fuel in, check the oil and give it the beans!
I do often think about replacing it, but would have to spend a considerable amount more cash to get the same level of fun/performance on track.
I think It will stay for a long time s:) :) s:)
1zz all the way haha
Still gutted you broke at Llandow last year would of been nice for a spin
I'm aiming to do a cheeky track day in August if I can fit it in
Castle Combe have a Monday one I believe. But need to put the car back together
Looks like you were having a hoot Paul
Inbox me when you're next out on track and I'll see if I can make it

Yes mate, will let you know.
Would like to get a a couple more in over the summer and will probably do Llandow again as its cheap and close!
Im actually on track this Sunday - although not in the MR2. Have won a competition to drive one of these monsters on the Goodwood circuit Sunday morning, then have free tickets to the festival of speed. Oh also got tickets for a razz about in the mission motorsport drift cars too. s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:

I'm not jealous at all , honest s:bowdown:  s:bowdown: s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:
Well I'm definitely at pembrey beginning of September , I may do Llandow again as last time I was there the car was fairly standard and had basic sport tyres and buggered old shocks so might be nice to see the difference
a small update.
went to Castle Combe on Saturday and managed to get in to the VW / Audi track day.
had 2 good sessions, until my CV boot exploded.
Hot grease all over the exhaust caused a rather spectacular cloud of white smoke braking into tower from about 100mph and a rather loud sshit shit sshit moment when I thought the engine had gone!
Luckily it wasnt too serious, crawling back home down the M4 wasnt too fun though.

looks good Paul, shame about the CV boot but at least it wasn't anything more serious!
shame about the CV but as said, could have been worse I suppose.
did you ever change to R888 or AD08s?
Yeah it's not a big deal really.
One of those things.
Not changed boots just yet. This was the last track day on the kumhos. - good tyres but go off to quickly on track
Have decided to give the federal 595 rsr a go.
Pneus tyres are selling them for a very good price and theyre supposed to be very similar to the 48's.
Will report back once they're fitted.
They've lasted well considering the track days etc. I've heard good things about the federals, I'm just very indecisive! I'm still leaning toward r888s
Yeah, I was all ready to go 888.
But the Feds are less than half the price .
And they are not less than half the tyre.
Easy decision! Money saved will buy fuel, beer and a curry!
Quote from: "Paul1087"Yeah, I was all ready to go 888.

That is the sound of sense.
It would take a forklift to shift me from my AD08s but this is a fine point for the Federals.
Car's looking great Paul

Fun day out at Llandow last weekend.
First track time on the Federal 595 RSR's.
I was 1 second quicker than what I managed on my previous Kumhos KU31 - still for sale BTW... s;) ;) s;)
The 595's did warm up a lot quicker, and didnt go off throughout any of the sessions. They did wear quite heavily though.
I also went up to 195 on the front which reduced understeer nicely in the slower corners.
Having had a ride out with Alex with his new Meister R's - - I think im going to start saving up.
I also fitted a nice heavier gearknob from the GT86.

Anyone want to buy some Teins and OEM shocks soon?
Few more updates since last post.
Now got the Meister R 's fitted and had them set up yesterday at FCM Motorsport in Bristol. Great place for alignment for anyone down this way.
Also had the OEM celica manifold chopped and fitted to a full custom 2.5" system back to the CHE lotus backbox = result, a bit louder and more go!
Didn't do dyno runs but its very noticeable.
Now just waiting to sort another track day s:D :D s:D

Over a year since my last update!
I've done a few more little things to the car, and since my last post I've done trackdays at Bedford, Castle Combe & Silverstone.
Not much to report - the car has been running sweet as ever. Today I had a new custom cat back exhaust built at Infinity Exhausts near Bristol (my old CHE backbox had blown most of the baffles!) Over the winter I had the valve clearances done, oil change and service, fitted GT86 seats after seeing a thread on here by Culmen. They are a really nice upgrade!

Do you run a sports cat?
Quote from: "MilesH"Do you run a sports cat?
Yes - 200 cell.
Can I ask what was involved in fitting the gt86 seats? I take it they're not straight swap?
Edit: I found/remembered his thread. They're great, but not for me I don't think: I can't weld and I need the seat low!

I can't weld either but found a good local guy who did it in an afternoon.
I was also searching for something that would get me a bit lower, but tbh i actually prefer the new driving position with these seats. It's only a tiny bit higher, but no worse than winding the stock seats up to their highest position i don't think. The additional comfort and support when cornering is great, plus i paid £240 for the pair and they're in really good condition.
Nice gt86 seats s;) ;) s;)
Same as mine.
They are about 1-1,5cm higher.
I payd for mine below 200e and they are much better than stock.
In daily using and cornering.
Had the wheels off this morning to try and lower the rear of the car a little, turns out the C spanners for the Meister's R's are too big to fit inside the rear arches!
So instead i just took some preload off the front to try and soften it up a little, it's now much more compliant on the road which is nice.
Some more pics of the new seats.
Really liking these.
