Finally bought an mr2. Had a few BMW's before and i thought ill try an mr2 as ive always wanted one. Bought this 05 mr2 as cat C as it had a few nice option like TTE spoiler, TTE exhaust, bodykit ans chrome rollbar. It looks well specced too as it has heated seats and AC etc. The mileage is 58k and the engine sounds good,.
It has front damage so im looking for an facelift bumper,bonnet, headlights, ac rad and normal radiator. The bodywork is quite tired but im looking to do a full respray or maybe even a colourchange as im getting fed up of owning black cars s:? :? s:? .
I hope i can get it to a good standard and bring it back to life.

Quick update, managed to strip the car a bit further. Looks like it wont be a direct bolt on replacement. The chasiss leg has slightly bent so will need pulling and lining up s:( :( s:(
Managed to get most of the parts i need from an forum member who is a total gent, all i'm missing now is a bonnet so ive put an wanted ad up.
The car will be going to the body shop next week so ill post up some more updates.

The bodyshop fixed the fog light bracket somehow.
I've had 3 black cars in a row now so fancy a change, as I'm doing half of the car I might as well change the colour.
I'm leaning towards red with some black bits like the vents etc...
Just checked oil and it looked empty (crap dipstick design!!) so i decided to change oil ,Filter, air filter and spark plugs. Heres a pic of old & new Plugs

Yeah hardtop does make it look better also seems a bit more quiet and spacious inside.
Colour wise I'm leaning to red with black hardtop & side vents. But that will be in the new year now.

Really difficult to choose a colour so i have narrowed it down to 3 BMW individual colours i like.

Orange is just red with yellow in it. My thoughts on that are well known on this board.

This was a tough decision, so after a lot of oohhing and ahhing i've decided to go for shakir orange. I think java green would be too much for me and i've had so many blue cars.
Shakir orange is a very hard colour to picture as it changes from dark red to bright orange depending on light.

I've seen the BMW colour (someone has one in that colour locally). It's darker and very striking.

The large front plates are a drag... I have just bought a "private plate" to get the number of characters down to five. I also had it printed without spacing on a Japanese plate which is only three and a half inches deep. I cut the excess width off with a dremel. Certainly this is outside of the DVLA rules but it does look much better imo and fingers crossed for not being fined!

Need to photoshop some different colour wheels to see how they will look with this colour. I think there is someone on here who does this????

Did you get the plate from eBay?
I bought a private plate and got a JDM from eBay...
Bah, after taking my OEM, cutting it down, filling, sanding and painting, I could have bought one ready made.
Oh well, doesn't matter now. I've filled the holes and it's going in the vent underneath.
My plate came from Mr Reg through eBay too - it's very, very small (5 characters)
EDIT: I've just realised now what the stupid holes are for. On the JDM plate holder, there are 2 bits of plastic that align.
Colour looks mint. I;ve toyed with the idea of having mine plastidipped orange

hi everyone been away for awhile so i thought ill update you guys on what i have been doing to the car.
I have replaced the single din aftermarket stereo for a double din Kenwood DAB stereo. I find a double din looks much neater in the Mr2 and radio reception is excellent. Also has bluetooth and handsfree so well pleased.
I also went about sound deadening the doors and upgrading the speakers to JL audio components.I used silent coat sound deadening sheets for the outer skin of the doors and wickes flashing for the holes and door cards. The wickes flashing did smell for a while but now the smell is gone. The doors feel much more solid now and i am well pleased with the overall sound from how it was.
I do plan to add some sort of subwoofer soon whwn i get the time.

Think that will be a good idea. As i was writing the advert i wasnt totally sure if i wanted to sell it but needs must.
Why not put a for sale post up on here. Give the membership a chance to keep it in the fold.
I was going to post a for sale up but rules do not allow ebay links. As i am finding it hard to value the car i have putit on ebay auction.
No mention of soft top in advert, might be worth emphasising it's in good nick
