Any difficulties in fitting that head unit?  Or was it a straight swap??
Have been looking at replacing the double din in mine, and this looks like it will fit the bill exactly..
Grateful for any pointers
John

John, I was considering a GT86 head unit at some stage. Does the Sat Nav work OK and can you fit a reversing camera to it?
Also, does it not have DAB?

It needs slight refitting, mine had the sat navigation unit attached and sat nav aerial (beware most I saw on ebay don't have either)

I bought it from a guy called ade on Gt86 owners forum, it's basically brand new as he removed it as he tracks his car. It required an aerial adaptor and bluetooth microphone from Australia (not fitted) yet.

The only real issue I have is the buttons on the side don't illuminate and im not sure if it's my poor wiring or if they are supposed to be like that.

It does look quite nice and brings things up to date. I wouldn't recommend it though, too expensive to do for what it is, the sat nav is not simple to use, I don't use bluetooth either.

Apparently you can attached cameras and usb to it but I'm not bothering.

Patrick from rogue motorsport did this before me and he advised to trim a bit of a plastic tab from the heater unit. This is correct and I used a hacksaw blade from the drivers side footwell.

It's a two plug swap. Although some fool had installed a kenwood and cut my old plugs off, I had to get some from a breakers and re solder them. Also needs a weird looking aerial adaptor. Use the same stereo surround as oem Toyota.

The sat nav works ok but needs an external sat nav aerial, it's not as good as a tomtom in terms of ease of use. Mine doesn't appear to have DAB, don't seem to have any options in the menu, seems to work fine of existing aerial for fm and am.

I believe you can fit a camera and usb but don't know for sure of how. There are so many plug sockets on the back of the unit for aerials/wires.

Saw a used elise parts sump on eBay. New price £395 exc vat.

Used advertised at £295, offered £240 and then accepted £255, £10 extra to post.

I've also bought markiii pipe and fitted this, with bigger clear wind deflector and uprated brake lines still to fit. I have the gearbox mounts to fit which will finish off the gearchange nicely.

Future plans still involve front and rear arb's and a new rear cross member and rust proofing.

Since 1st November I have put to work a 2006 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 Sri for daily duties and parking in the work car park. It used to drive me crazy worrying about leaving it there and driving it over winter was a small concern due to road salt.

My beloved mr2 is just kept for weekends and special drives.
