Well, I thought today as it was dry and in preparation for a wet journey tomorrow to DD, I'd give Sapphire abit of love and attention, wire brushed any loose bits (not many to be honest) and then used some hammerite on the sill edges. Sadly in the past (not jonbill I might add, he'd know better) someone has jacked her up in the wrong place, fortunately the sill paint hasn't been damaged. Sorry first two pics are upside down! :o
Seems more common than not to have damage due to individuals not jacking the car up in the correct location
Always good to get some protection on the sills as they are so exposed
So to sort her out cosmetically I've booked her into a local body shop who are going to respray her bumpers and give her a full machine polish all over. Bernie uses this body shop so I know they do good work. Next year she'll have her wheels refurbed. I'll soon get her looking like brand new again. She's worth having some money spent on her. I'm getting rather attached to the old girl ;) ;D
So I take it your keeping it now Jane :)
Rob
Yep - the Ding Day trip made up my mind - I've even got used to her noise behind me! ;D

As with many things in life there is a saying to cover this, particularly apt perhaps:
Many a good tune played on an old fiddle.
And another:
Beauty is only skin deep.
Very true Tony. ;D Missed you at Ding Day :'(
So this time at lunch today I thought I'd investigate the bin rattle behind the seats, both side end plastic trims were loose so I shall have to find some fasteners to sort those. I must clean the bins out, pretty filthy in my book! I was surprised and very pleased though to see the "side gates" in extremely good condition. I know Sapphire had a hard-top for a good part of her life - just wondered if this is why the side gates condition were found looking so good? ;D Very pleased as I know they're not cheap new from Toyota! Her roof is in very good condition for her age too!
You see Jane it's not all about cosmetics.
Well today I contacted Silver Wheels in Ferndown, Dorset, they refurbished Foxy's wheels in 2016 (excellent job) and to this day they still look like brand new, well they did when I sold her in December! Anyway, I rang them up and got a quote for Sapphire's today, £312.00 all in. I thought £78.00 a wheel was reasonable so I've booked her in for next month so that's bumpers resprayed, sill tidy up and wheels done, better start saving up. :o She's worth it though ;D

Sounds fair to me Jane.
To be honest, I've seen far worse alloys but they'll look far better once done.
I wont recognise it :)

Is there actually anything wrong with those wheels?

You knew that I'd take care of her

Yes Scotte, the pics make them look pretty good, but they really are flakey in parts and the inners are corroded sadly. You know me I like things sparkling and Silver Wheels do a great silver sparkle paint.

Me being the Devil's advocate, in the nicest possible way Jane, have you considered a colour other than Silver for Sapphire's wheels?
Well I did consider graphite grey but to be honest I like the standard OEM Toyota silver, Silver Wheels do a great sparkling silver. I don't want black wheels, they mark too easily.

Gold or White?
I would suggest yellow but we all know your not cool enough.
gotta be standard silver.

Cheeky!
Gunmetal grey wins for me
Something like this
Wheel colour makes the car
Spent today's lunch-hour wiping clean the roof interior lining - absolutely filthy! I suggest you all give your roof interior a good clean, I used wipes but you'll be amazed how much dirt you will get off the fabric, over 20 years of accumulating muck - smells better too! Will need to have another go at it later. Bit by bit - oh by the way, I need some fixings for the plastic trim in the bins (golf club ends). I could do with a selection of the plastic clips for internal and external purposes - the wheel arch liners are loose and seem to have been missing a few clips - not sure what type they are. Again, I suspect they were disturbed when the body kit was removed. That damn body kit has a lot to answer for >:(

Did this ever receive a response? I realise that Jane has now sold the car
Recommended source for plastic clips anyone please??
I can recall a recent thread about these 'blighters' ...but even using the search function I am unable to locate the discussion

I believe not, yes, several cars/ times!
To be fair to myself, had I seen Jane's post I would have responded as below
There are various eBay sellers of various clips but I believe these to have a fair selection:

@Gibla If you copy my link for vehicle clips into search with my user name you will get 8 links to various posts where this has been discussed. Within , hopefully you will find what you need.
You are a * sir, many thanks
@Joesson :)
Some sort of sticky post?
Not a recommendation as such but a point of reference?
