Title: Soft top dropped latch not latching
Post by: Rocket Monkey on March 2, 2023, 16:07
I'm having a problem with the central latch that holds the soft top down securely when dropped. It must only be a few mm off but the leading edge of the roof comes to a hard stop and isn't dropping low enough to catch the latch which doesn't appear to be adjustable.

See attached pic of the latch itself, is that flap above it in the correct position?

I don't want to force it, any tips or suggestions?

Are you saying when the soft top comes down it hits protruding bit.? Does it still hit it if you pull the handle?

The flap is intended to act as a spring and pop the edge up when you release the latch, so you can grab the free edge of the top with your fingers.
I slam mine shut to engage the latch.  You can try pressing the top with the heel of your hand to engage it completely.  Last resort, you can break off the "flap".   One of my spyders has the flap broken off due to age.  But it will rattle without the resistance of the flap (spring).   I actually added a strip of foam across the beam to stop the rattle.
