Title: Grating/Scratching Clutch
Post by: Anonymous on August 13, 2003, 17:30
Sometimes when the car is warm and i am changing gear i can feel the clutch grating on something, as if the cable is being dragged over a jagged edge.

Is this normal?

Its 2 months old and has done 2600 miles.

Do you mean the gear lever movement is not smooth ?

If so this sounds like you are changing gear to quickly and syncromesh is not keeping up, possibly if you are not pressing the clutch fully down as well.

If you are changing gear properly and this still happens then its possible the gearbox oil is low, or there is a fault with the synchromesh or selector forks, is this on a particular gear change (ie 2-3) or all of them ?
