Hi people.

We're getting asked more and more to recommend reliable generic O2 sensors. There's good, bad and ugly options out there: some are plug'n'play, some need wiring in, some are total pants.

Nuggets of info are everywhere. Its hard to keep track of current sources and even harder for "use the search" advice to be of any use whatsoever when members post up their woes.

So, lets get it all in one place. A heads-up on who/what to avoid is as useful as links to good stuff, so all experiences are welcomed.

Suggested format as follows:
    Brand/Part number/description:
    Purchased from:
(Link if possible)
When purchased: (mm/yy)
Price: (incl shipping and taxes as applicable)
Delivery time:
Ease of fitting: (plug'n'play?/requires wiring up?/needs extending for 3rd O2 position?)
Comments:[/list]

Hope you'll be able to spare a few minutes to get this rolling. Providing response isn't totally underwhelming  s:P :P s:P  , I'll top'n'tail the thread with info on codes, tests, resistor fixes, sensor sockets and other paraphernalia. Then we can get it stickied and point our members at it.   s:shock:  s:shock:   s:lol:  s:lol:

Thanks

I got mine from a company in the US called Rock Auto

It was the post-cat sensor P0141 which was the bother, these are the details (that i can remember)...

Brand/Part number/description: Beck Arnley - 1564171
Purchased from: Catalogue
When purchased: June 2006
Price: Approx $110
Delivery time: 4 days
Ease of fitting: Plug & play, exactly the same as the one i took out just didn't have Denso stamped on it. The cable is spot on the right length and it even comes with the cable tie clips that go in the holes the original ones use. The plug goes straight in like the original.

Comments: Works a treat - no problems since then. This was my second go, I originally bought one of the Gendan "generic" items, that was useless!

i bought a generic one from ebay, again to solve the 0141 CEL.

it was about 15 pounds, and initially they sent me a 3 wire one.

i returned it, and they then sent a 4 wire one.

now, the old addage, you get what you pay for comes in here.  lots of tinkering under the car soldering this that and the other.

then, as you know. i needed a 40ohm resistor building into the circuit.

so all in all, its a cheap answer, but certainly not a plug and play option

I'm disappointed, there seems to have been plenty of people who have complained about failed O2 sensors, asked for and eecieved advice - and yet...

Few can be bothered to volunteer information which will help future generations who run into the same problems!

Brand/Part number/description: Walker / 250-24200 / Universal
      Purchased from: AutoMedicSupply
      When purchased: November 2006
Price: current price $49 + $25 shipping (converts to approx £38 NO DUTY)
      Delivery time: 5 days
Ease of fitting: Chop wires to utilise original plug, wire crimps & heat shrink covers supplied PICTURE

Comments:

Although this was fitted to my wifes Celica, this is the same four wire sensor used by our 2002 onward models.
The instructions were very clear and  fitting is VERY easy.
Since fitting there has never been a problem.

I cured P136 with this £15 one from ebay

 m http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=022 m

It threw a P141 after fitting but this was cured by fitting a 40p ceramic 15 ohm 10 watt resistor from Maplins. I fitted this by cutting the 2 same colour wires and crimping / bullet connectors across thewires back to the car with nothing going to the sensor.

No lcel ight now and a cheap fix.

Which wires did you cut and where did you put the resistor?

Brand/Part number/description: as listed
Purchased from:  m http://www.lambdasensor.com/main/mindex.htm m
When purchased: April 08
Price: Range dependant on spec £50 to £95)
Delivery time: next day
Ease of fitting: plug and play included all new clips etc
Comments: The cheaper option i guess would require some jointing of wires. I ordered the specific exact one at the dearer price for 3rd sensor and fitted and worked perfectly

Not quite in the format Nic has asked for, but.....

For those running Innovate wideband LC1, you're probably aware that the Bosch sensor used is the upstream sensor from the VW Beetle (Turbo).

I priced this up and with VAT at mate's rates its £86.

There's a logistics company in Greece that acts as European distributor for Innovate, so they supply it badged with Innovate part number.

Free delivery within Europe - £70 all-in. Insured delivery and it takes about 3 days.

Search for "skotsaladis" on that auction site, or  m http://www.telematicagroup.com/ m

They do other stuff too   s8) 8) s8)

I have just bought one from Rock Auto, as in Wabbit's post.  Cost £84 inc postage, would be cheaper if the exchange rate improves.  I tihnk it arrived after about 3 days.

Brand/Part number/description: Bosch universal sensor
Purchased from: Euro car parts
When purchased: early August this year
Price: £63 free delivery.
Delivery time: 2 days
Ease of fitting: i had to attach the original plug on to the the 4 wires for the sensor. i am not an electrically minded girl but i managed it in about 30 mins.
Comments:
i was really impressed with Euro Car spares, i ordered it over the phone along with the tackle for a service and got a huge discount and free postage.
when attaching the old sensor plug there was a moment of no return when i cut the wires fro the original sensor. but it all turned out well in the end. the engine light had been on since  the start of May with the code P0135 so when the sensor arrived i just wanted to put it in and i did, all on my own!!!

Have been to work and back today (46 mile round trip) and back out briefly tonight
Management light still off, so hopefully sorted.
Think my P0136 was actually a P0135, (memory loss, it's an age thing   s:oops:  s:oops: )
The car was recently serviced prior to me purchasing a reader and they advised it was bank 1 at fault
Did a bit of searching on here and I changed the one on the right as you look into the engine, Think that's the P0135 one
Well everything seems ok and will keep my fingers crossed that i've cured the problem and changed the right sensor............
