This is kind of it. There's no definitive way of building it so I expect everyone's will be different.

Probably better off starting your own thread Wozzy. Just so it doesn't get confusing with people adding pictures and answering questions n that. Visuvesi, you have expensive tastes don't you pal! They will look spot on though.

I've been a bit quiet recently. Mostly focusing on the house, very occasionally on the car.

Spent a little bit of time trimming the roof section. The top right and left corners where it meets the windscreen weren't the right angle so have cut them away and will need to fiberglass the correct shape once it starts to warm up!

Had the tyres removed from the old wheels and set about respraying two of them for the rear end. I've ordered some 40mm spacers which will hopefully be with me this week. These will bring the offset to 0 with the new body on the car. Once the spacers and wheels are on, I can set about getting the rear end properly lined up!

Primed

Sprayed

Finished

Brought my bumper to work and cut some holes for the indicators. Now, I can indicate  s:) :) s:)

I may have also set the building fire alarm off in doing so. It apparently works on dust as well as fire :bolt:

Using a couple more bits I found in my recycle bin at work (box section) these will be my brackets for the clam. They will be reinforced with some 3mm stainless plate to give the footprints a larger surface area then bolted and glued through the hardtop.

This is my hinge which will go inside the clam. The bits of box section (not in the picture) will be bolted through another piece of plate, through the hardtop then through another bit of plate underneath in a cross shape for a bit of extra rigidity.

That's where I am now and i'll probably set about doing the other couple of wheels over the next couple of days.

+1

Four months spent on the house is quite enough, without an update on this interesting build!  s;-) ;-) s;-)    s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:

Didn't notice that anyone had written on here, sorry. Not that much has gone on recently. Still doing a lot of work to the house and having a big push for the next month at least before the new carpet is put down. If I never see another pot of paint, I'd be a happy man!

I now have four matching wheels but am waiting for my front spacers to be returned - found hat one had been cut wrong and had a 2mm difference between sides. Originally thought it was a massive buckle on the wheel!! Apart from hat, have done a little more painting around the doors and frunk. I so badly want to get out and work on it but just don't have the time at the moment  s:( :( s:(

We're getting somewhere. Bought my rear window, that was expensive! Sprayed a couple of bits and fitted a nice little air filter. The car now has an odd hoooooooooooo noise on tickover.

Doing some work on the shutlines. Door and sideskirt match. Since then, the rear clam is also taking good shape. Just to note, the clam and rear edge of the skirt are on the wonk in this picture. The wheels aren't actually that far in.

It's coming together. Had a bit of a revelation that if I don't just grow some balls and start cutting bits off and making them fit, it'll never get done.

Rear lights and indicators all round are now working.

Had a bit of a hit at home when someone tried to break into my garage. It's now been mega reinforced with door bolts, padlocks and a medieval door brace. Bastards.

Looking good, keep up the good work

Nostromo

So I've not been on for some time but just thought I'd show you all what I've been up to. This is a bit of a brief overview as its been a couple of years in the making now.

Window fitting and racey mirrors

Headlights were a ball-ache

Modified the roof

Sprayed and fitted

Not bad for a rattle can job

Spraying up the rear end

Fitted and lifted

Nice new exhaust

Almost finished, just a few bits to sort before the MOT now - rear fog light, rear inner wheel arches, exhaust mounts, a service

MR TWO

Thats quite a result - congratulations!
