what about painting it white?

Should contrast nicely with the blue roof and then I can put the blue scoops back one.. possibly make the wheels white as well?

Perhaps you need a photoshop request?

Yeah probably - I keep thinking it needs the TRD body kit, but I'm trying to keep the weight down as far as reasonable..

My oven is working well today!

This is the state of what it'll be replacing:

Right! I've finished it! Might get some proper polish at some point in the future- but I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out..

Basically did 1500 to get rid of any orange peel, then 2500, 3000 and finished with 5000.

I had some autosol plastic polish around so used that.. seems to have done a reasonable job.

This evening I took a drive out to go see @Oddshoes (long term storage facility) and get my old front bumper back as it will go on whilst I restore the new bumper...

Look forward to getting the front fender on and the car looking a bit more reasonable again!

Nice seeing you again as it always is dude, that's looking like a nice setup you have there, also the paint job for. The pics you showed me looked very good fair play to ya

Started on work to replace the bumper and fender... my word those plastic square clips are a pain!

Anyway..
Check out the rust build up on the inside of the fender:

I then tackled the rust on the main body since I was in there..

Just need to wait a few more hours till I can add the zinc primer and paint it up.

Whilst waiting for the kurust to dry I foolishly attempted to fit the fl trying member brace with consequences of bolt munching.. please see general workshop post and weigh in on what to do?

jvanzyl

Area is now primed - Think I'll go for hammered silver when I get a chance.
Today is homeschooling all day for me - so not expecting to get the chance to work on this till maybe late tonight or maybe tomorrow.

jvanzyl

Hammered silver applied and now drying- will neaten to the edges after I've fitted the fender.

Hehe- it was more like only starting school at 10am!

But there wasn't much today as my wife got the majority done yesterday- which freed me up this afternoon to:You cannot view this attachment. You cannot view this attachment. You cannot view this attachment.

I also decided to add some ct12 to the edge of the arch liner to stop some of the water and rubbish going in and kept a drain hole at the bottom..

It's not perfect by any means- the colour is roughly the same but it does look different upon closer examination.. but hey I'm ok with that.

Finished the day off with some debadging- long term readers will note this attempt as being significantly more successful then the previous attempts....

So... cleaned up the work bench.. the ambition is growing!

Most of the damage was to the drivers side corner but if I'm going to do this I'm going to have to do the whole thing anyway as this bumper was a respray itself and there's no way I can match that variant of silver.

By my reckoning if I do everything right first time it's about 2-3 cans of base coat (£14) and lacquer (£6) each and maybe about the same with primer (£4) possibly less.
So that's a grand total of £72 and I should still have a lot of wet and dry and sand paper.. probably have to factor in the cost of the vapour filters at some point for the face mask as well.. any way.. I reckon £72 plus my time isn't too bad if I can make it work well, it'll be a challenge to do in the space I have but I'll give it as go.

Cleaned the soft top drains again today.., this will be the second time since purchase back in 2015. There was definitely some debris and it to a few minutes to get it all out.

Total time was 30 mins start to finish and I even made a new "white clip" to go in for the side vents as one had broken. You cannot view this attachment.

I'm likely going to change the oil again. It's only been a couple of thousand miles since the last change, but it's not burning oil so I'd like to keep it that way!

Might put in an oil temp gauge at the same time just because...

That's a neat tray of assorted clips you have there John.  Very useful. ;D

Indeed! They're Not exactly like for like but I've been using them where needed.

I want to get a few packs of spare Bolts (used) as well just for spares so I can always replace and keep going really..

Well everyone was in bed rather early so I thought I'd have some fun and polish the car, I used the mcguires ultimate polish with my Aldi polisher...

What that car really needs are some side scoops. (I'll run away and hide now....)

Cheers Simon,
Yeah there's a couple I have my eye on, £350 is a lot for the pfl tte kit.. or I could go for the Trd stage 1 which is frp and needs a lot of prep for less than a £100... both options are more than 100 miles away though.. I keep thinking it's more weight and it's not got the power to back up a more sporty look..

I do like a nice TTE personally. (PS The weight is pretty minimal so thats not an excuse).

Did some one say it needs new side scoops?

I'm only going to put them if I can find a way of cleaning the drains..

So I'm thinking some kind of bolts that go through and that can be undone when it's time clean out the drains..
