Car has been deemed road worthy, did the wheel alignment and took it for a 300ish km drive in B roads.

I got -2 front camber, -1 rear, not idal so Ill be getting some camber bolts.

Engine is done, had to top up aprox. 1l after 300 km of spirited driving 4-6000 rpm range. Ill just keep topping the oil until a new engine swap.

Below is a photo of Marko and a good friend of mine Marko, more about him can be seen in the video.  Hopefully new spring time i will be able to present some "old toyotas in action" videos

Foggy couple of weeks, this was taken at 2 PM :D

Anyways put Boris's antenna kit into good use and deleted the old fugly antenna. next step is to put te top metal bit. So far so good. A soul satisfing mod, must say metal bits are manufactured with high precision, well recommended piece of kit for anybody interested in doing the same.

Final product

And one just because I like it :)

Im thinking of deleting the soft top but I also found out that if I remove it completely I wont be able to attach seat belt. Can there be a compromise? Can I leave just the bit for attaching the seat belts or if I remove the whole installation I lose the option of attaching stock seat belt?

Deleted the soft top, had a few days time to spare and it was poor weather outside so what else to do :)

Nice work! How long did it take you roughly? Did you follow a guide? How did you overcome the seatbelt issue? I'm looking to do this soon :)

Cheers!

This was done during three afternoons of relaxed work + visit to a friend who borrowed me electrical saw to cut off the bracket from the rest of the soft top installation.

Im attaching the part Ive taken off and reused to make the whole thing look tidy and keeping the intended structural integrity.

Overall not a complex task just make sure to have some power tool for screw/ unscrew tasks and be patient and thorough with all the nuts n bolts. Also take plenty of pictures to be able to recollect how to bring everything back (lost of similar screws).

Moving onto whats next Ill probably upgrade the brakes as it is not so $$$ expensive and Im having now on a more regular basis overheating from back left brakes. Im guessing nobody put any money besides brake pads into brakes since it was manufactured 20 years ago by the looks of it.

Having front and rear camber bolts delivered within next few days from kam racing, will install them together with "dog bones" inserts for rear subframe from Boris. Looking forward to it.

Onto the next set of challenges - Im very unhappy with the brake feel and occasional rear left brake not letting go after using the hand break which results in smoke and overheating. So next big-mini project bill be to sort out them brakes - all around completely. I plan to go ahead with new stock-ish discs, pads (green/ yellow stuff level), braided lines, brake fluid (5.1?). Any good best buy web shops to get it all at once? Will probably also refurbish calipers and well everything needed really as by the looks of it nothing was tone to the braking system since the car was made besides changing pads...

Onto an elephant in the room - due to covid19 2020 bollocks my income side has been heavily negatively influenced meaning I must search alternatives to the original k24 swap plans. My mind is going into directions of maybe just maybe fixing this current 1zz oil heavily consuming engine (aprox. 1l every 500 km). Wat would a full engine strip and fixing oil consumption include from parts side? New piston rings perhaps, what is happening to the cylinder walls, would they need to be machined etc.? Labor side Im sorted. Worst case scenario please.

Than you for all of your input and support! :)

Got the camber bolts for front & back. this cant wait, need engine/ brakes sorting first that is the weak point now

Mine should arrive soon too! Have you taken the 2 for a drive since the soft top delete? Any issues? Such as water leaks?

Yes, Im driving it any chance I get when its not below zero Celsius snow etc. as I do not have winter tires on.

No leaks whatsoever, I've also washed it with pressure washer - all well!

Ive installed the bushings. My first impressions are positive, doors close now much firmer and torsion rigidity has improved significantly (most obvious when climbing any elevated surface i.e. street curb).

That's very light for a FL.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Sorry to hear! Good luck with th replacement, I wish I had done it when my engine went rather than cheapiing out on the 1zz then deciding to go turbo later

Are there any parts of the kit that are better to get in the UK?

well let me put it this way, Im just writing to a bloke in Hungary for engine etc., got an offer for LSD from Swiss and gearbox Ill probably source locally  (c60).

If there was no Brexit I would opt for k24 swap kit that was on sale for 2500 gbp (ALL parts needed including k24a3 + ep3 gearbox) but when yI did the math it was just too damn expensive. UK became an expensive option, will see how things will develop in the near future.

Ill do a 2ZZ swap and put an stock helical LSD into my 5 spd box by the looks of it. It is a more economical choice and should get me going and provide a more potent motor/ power transfer for minimum amount of hassle. Shoould get me thru the next winter and then we will continue with tte upgrade.

Sourced the engine in Hungary, originally from UK you dont say :) Some maintenance work has been done to it
