Right- handbrake is sorted, I can park up on the steep part of my drive no issues. During bedding in I found the car going to the left with no hand on the steering wheel.. I think the back right calliper is possibly ageing.. but I'll likely do the fronts a some point soon too.. anyway. Next stop the MOT people! You cannot view this attachment.

Good stuff, mot passed today.
No issues 😀

Got home parked behind the wife's car who the reversed into me.. fortunately no damage.

Cheers, not that I could see. The emotional scars are there though... I'll milk this one for as much as I can.

awaiting delivery of a little snail whereupon afterwards it's off to zero for manifold through to exhaust and then I need to figure out the electronics side... very much undecided..

Let us know if you like the battery, I want to get one before turboing so that ill save some space and wont need to move the whole battery

Oooh, exciting times!

You will just need to sort out the blue roof then!

If I did that I'd also have to sort out the blue seats and door cards...

So the battery arrived which is great. Decided to pop off to the shops in the van to buy the wedding anniversary present (10) and managed to take off the passenger wing mirror in my haste.

Then tried you take the Toyota, old battery flat. Thought maybe I could fit the new one quickly.

This rapidly descended into removing the old battery tray at a cost of 3 rounded size 12s one of which fell down into the engine bay and I'll have to try and find it later.

I then decided that the battery tray needed wire wheeling due to all the corrosion:

You folks should have a look at yours there's actually quite a lot..

Started to prime it but then realised the shed is about 3C so that's why the primer is coming out all in chunks...

So the heater is now on and I'll try and prime it later.

The intention is to drill holes into the old tray to allow the new battery holder to be mounted to it.

Better...

That looks to be a pretty high tech paint shop you have there John!

Well it didn't turn out too bad!

I'm quite happy with it.

This is what it'll look like when I mount the cage to it, I can only use 3 of the pre made fixing holes. I think That'll be enough- can always make more holes! You cannot view this attachment.

I recommend putting your tray into your oven after it has been used and switched off to cure the paint.

Just leave it there until cool and the paint will be much stronger.

Interesting... could do that..

for now it's just leaning against the radiator for when at some point in the future I can get out and fit it.. which means I need to find that bolt that dropped down and find a solution to my 3x rounded ones.. they're the 12mm jobs, will have to see what bits I have lying around.

jvanzyl

Right- it's bodged in there...
Got to be min 10-12 kilos saved!

Checklist so far:
- GTX2554R
- Actuator & bracket
- A downpipe flange and v band clamp. - T25 inlet gasket.
- Oil drain fitting and gasket
- Oil inlet fitting
- Water line fittings

Still to decide:
Manifold
- zero complete system
  - or whatever else you can find these days...
ECU
- EMU black
- G4 monsoon or whichever
- Haltech 1500

Injectors
- do I need bigger than the 2zz?

Sump
- moroso or just buy a new oem and modify..

Cooling
- might get zero setup ceramic coated
- charge cooling is clearly the way to go.. will have to figure it out.

Target power- aiming for a safe long term level of 190 at the wheels. I don't think it's a coincidence that Tom's, TTE, power enterprise etc all settled on 190 at the crank. After seeing Bens PE setup still working happily at 135K miles I think that's worthwhile.

The rest of the performance can come from lighter wheels and whatever else there is that's worthwhile.

Call the midlife!

Good stuff! You'll struggle with Zero unless you're taking it there for it built?
60% of the time it works everytime...

jvanzyl

Yeah that's plan. I'll trailer it up there and Leave it.

If you're going down the route of ecumaster, remember to factor in an external wideband controller
...neutiquam erro.

I don't mind spending the extra- It just needs to be reliable. If it's going to keep munching them regardless then it's out. If the controller fixes it then it's a good contender.

190hp is more than enough. I have no idea how much my TTE turbo is making but it is a significant and appreciable difference to stock.

Three things makes this special for me:
- added power and torque of course
- turbo noises (also added cooling fan noises)
- Not intimidating. Makes for comfy driving.

Would I like more power? Sure. Having been out in 300+ hp cars like Scott's B6 and Marks rotrex 2zz did at one point make me wish for more power.
However realistically it does not add much more to the experience which the TTE setup already gives. Law of diminishing returns applies.
More power = more cost = more reliability issues etc.

It budget isn't a massive factor, go for Link. It's a few hundred extra but you know it'll be supported everywhere and well proven

That's my general approach... I'm going for enjoyment. If I wanted to worry about not being able to get home I'd have bought something else...
