Yes, potentially! Will PM

Quote from: bobbe on September  1, 2022, 13:30Also interested in any tips for protecting new subframes. A load of dinitrol and make sure it has all the rubber bungs?

You could have a look at Bilt Hamber products who have a range of anti corrosion and other products amongst them a specific cavity protectant.
https://bilthamber.com/product/dynax-s50/

@Carolyn advocates the sealing up of those openings in the subframe that aren't closed by rubber bungs to prevent the ingress of moisture.
I'm not certain of this idea for protection  and only used the protectant.

If yours is to be a keeper be aware that there is also a front cross member and the sills could also  benefit from some protectant as  @StuC has recently found out.

Good advice, thanks! The underbody otherwise seems fine - under the sills and so on seem in good condition. I had planned to get it up on stands, strip off the plastic covers, and wirebrush, rust treat (where needed), and paint the underside at some point just to be sure. Though I hadn't thought about the front cross member

The front cross member is seldom mentioned, although someone on here replaced one recently, getting a used replacement from JSpec.

Iirc StuC's  sills looked to be good until they weren't, so a preemptive strike is a good move where corrosion is likely and it must be after one to two decades.

Thanks! They look spot on. I'll take them

Cool.
Will PM details.

Does anyone know what seats these are? (ignoring the fact that they need a good clean!)

You cannot view this attachment.

I've looked through hundreds of photos of MR2 interiors and I've never seen cloth seats with this colour combination (though I have seen leather ones like these)

Any ideas?

Also - if anyone is particularly interested in old seemingly quite rare (?) cloth seats then I will probably be selling these at some point (along with the accompanying door cards), if I can source some decent leather replacements

Alex Knight

Look like Gen 7 Celica seats to me.

A browse through google images suggests not, though they did have similar-ish looking ones with the black and the red reversed and some other differences

In black?
I have a pair of excellent black leather seats if you are interested.

A retrim by previous owner?

Possibly - probably not for a bit as I've other expenses for now, but what would you be looking for them?

A retrim of MR2 seats, if anything, perhaps - Celica ones seem to be a (subtly) different shape

Looking for £250.00

Alright, well I'll see how I get on and maybe come back to you!

The original front bumper that was on this car had an eagle badge (as do the wheels). The pfl bumper the seller fitted sadly did not.

So! I have bought one:

Also pictured in the background: my wee pfl silver car, which I'll have to sell at some point. I'm in the process of swapping over any bits I want to keep or which are in better condition than on the 05 - including the hardtop, which will be resprayed - and then I'll move it on. I do love that wee car, but at least I'll be keeping some of it.

Now with its winter hat on:

I had originally planned to get the hardtop sprayed black, but now that it's on I'm quite taken with the contrast. I'll leave it for now and see how I feel in the spring maybe

bobbe

(I say winter hat, I'm one of those heathens that thinks this car is better as a coupe - sacrilege, I know - so I'll probably leave the hardtop on permanently)
