FINALLY got the car back together and put the winter wheels on!

No milk or associated smells in sight!
Though I think my floor mats might need replacing, at least I'm the drivers side!

It's all the turbo bits I've been accumating... still a few items outstanding (Clutch, BOV and various pipes but it's almost complete.)

Noice. A pass is never a given, proof of your commitment to the smile machine.

Cheers man - I'm debating on the old moroso oil pan thing, there are a couple of other variants around and I was only initially thinking about it because @dan944 had highly recommended it due to the increased oil capacity, and then I realised that it comes with the oil drain for the turbo.

Anyone have any thoughts on the pan? I'm sure I can figure out putting the oil drain into the existing sump (I'll just copy the TTE Turbo guide).. but wasn't sure if it was a "meh" upgrade or a "yes definitely if you've got the cash" upgrade..

Call the midlife!

Whichever one you go with, look at the size of the oil drain on the turbo and see if any of the returns match it.
The Eliseparts sump has a return fitting on it already but it's a size smaller than the outlet on the GT, which causes issues.

oh heck.. I had not even considered that! Cheers! I'm going to have to get a bit more personal with the measurements for the next few purchases clearly..

generally you should look at AN10 out of the turbo, the Eliseparts comes with AN8 fitting welded in, I'm going from memory so double check but ideally you don't want any bottlenecks in the drain.
If it's not getting out of the drain quick enough it'll start making its way out through the seals...

I think that depends on how it's going to get driven.. If you're planning on taking her to the track, a bigger and baffled sump is money very well spent.

Well it's not going to be a track car- it's something I will use for spirited driving occasionally. I don't think I'm going to require a baffled sump for what I'm doing..

if you don't use a "bigger" sump then look at the amount of oil in circulation in the turbo system and overfill the standard sump to an acceptable level to compensate for the loss in circulation.

Some customs duty had to get paid this morning...

My rear nappy is gone and my "mid nappy" is on its last legs.. figured this would be a nice addition, plus I think it might be ever so lighter at 6.5kg compared to the oil and whatever else soaked mid one that I have currently..

Hmm... the instructions are rather typical!

Well it was only recently that I found out about that T4 place, but even their ones are a bit too showy for me.. I don't know what the alternatives are? Can you even buy new under trays from Toyota?

Ardent

Looking fwd to the installed pics.

Ic I was to put a nappy back on. It would be something like that.

Are you coming to the Drivers Club national event? T4 are usually there and you can speak to them about what you want as a lot of stuff will be made to order so no reason why you cant modify their design for what you want.

I hadn't planned on it as I'm expecting next round of work in the car to take me about a year! I will have to see if I can take the van maybe..

I've got some sheet ally that I keep saying I'm going to make some undertrays from. But I've still not even got the Crisis back together yet and the sable is a half days work away from being drivable.

Would be good to see you, its been a while. Of course you may spot more things you "need" if you turn up!

I expect that Hatton Country world would be a nice day out for the family, no need to tell them you will just stay in the car park!

So I finally managed to take a proper lunch break today and start on the car.

Found that apart from the known oil drip it would appear I also have a coolant drip- bear in mind this car has been standing for about 2 months. Will get to those as part of the next round of upgrades

Step 1 was to drill out the bolts that had been snapped off in the captive nuts to hold the original under tray in place (x3).
Discovered the wonders of molyslip! Wow what a difference that stuff makes.

Then I started assembling via the amazing instructions. Was nice to just sit down, not stare at a screen and be practical again.

The plan is to assemble and fit the under tray, check for clearances and then remove until everything is fitted.

Tomorrow if I can- I'm going to try my hand at cutting the threads for the bolts in the x3 spots I had to drill out. Not done it before (think @Carolyn did some on my car way back when we were fitting the bolts to the subframe so that might as well be 50 that' years ago).
