Brain is in a bit of a rut.. trying to figure it what to do next so tidied the place up. I'm guessing it's going to be completing the cooling so:

• Find radiator mounts and fit the new insulators
• Figure out how to fit charge cooling radiator
• Fit the charge cooling pump and find out how to wire it in
• Create bracket to hold the charge cooling barrel.
• Run piping from front to back, and at some point do a leak test.

 

Remounted the radiator after clearing up after the old mounts.











Then started applying some thinking to how on earth I'm going to get the charge cooler radiator to stay put..

Current thoughts are to make a sort of "cradle" with rubber inserts that will prevent forward/backwards and side to side movement.. not entirely sure what to do to hold the top of it steady though.. I will start a question thread on this.

Rubber insulated mounts and brackets seems to be the most common way.

Today I put as much of the stock heatshielding back in that surrounds the rear lights.
The intention is to then be able to see where to mount the header tank for the charge cooling setup. Currently thinking about here:



I then spent a silly amount of money on stupid NPT connections for the charge cooler barrel, the reducers to connect to the charge radiator and the accompanying joining barbs for them.

Next up I turned my attention to making sure the turbo oil feed and exit were orientated correctly.





The ginormous circlip that holds the intake and compressed air... any tips on how to get it back in? My standard circlip pliers are struggling (either that or my grip strength needs improving) and keep slipping..

And I'm assuming the below is correct with what I think is the oil inlet at the top..

So nice when your measurements and things that you order to fit said measured items match up!!







Just realising now that I need to order some kind of p clips to hold the pipes to the underside... don't really want to drill into the shell, hopefully will find sufficient places to attach.

Tie wrap them to the existing plumbing under the car.

You CAN get 2 lengths of that hose through the gaps into the engine bay but just be careful about dragging it over the seams and edges, lube it up a little and it's helpful if you've got an extra pair of hands pulling from the engine bay side while you're underneath feeding it through.
And mark the end of the hose before you put it through so you know which is which.

CAD modelling of brackets for charge cooler radiator complete..

Hoping there is sufficient re-enforcement in place for this..

I intend to bolt them through the bottom.

And here's me hoping I can cut in a straight line...



It's 2mm thick!

Template cutout without too much fuss/burns or mistakes.. went through a few cutting discs!



Finished of the burrs with the Linisher- and going to cut off a few more bits to practice welding on (mainly getting the amperage right) before I put it together.
Oh... and before that I also need to bend the right bits, this will involve putting a piece in the vice and whacking it with the mallet.

Well.. this worked out a heck of a lot better than I was expecting..

Getting varying degrees of success with the welding. I find it's definitely easy to get something pretty without the filler. Anyway- I'll just grind off the excess and redo whatever needs redoing.





And yes I can see I'm using "too much heat" - however I was finding on my test pieces that unless I upped the amperage I wasn't getting the penetration I needed.

FLIP I'M HAPPY WITH THIS!   









Next steps are to get the radiator holes in the right place, and start trying to get it into place..

I cannot. Just from what we've seen here before they're usually just cobbled together from leftover bits of metal
