Fantastic thanks.
Where you have put the patch is exactly where mine is starting to rub.
I think I'll patch mine in that area, and electrical tape the other areas where the bars are likely to rub.

Thanks once again

Wow, am I glad you guys posted this problem! I was having a different problem with my roof (see  m http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 067#176067 m ) but when searching the forums I came across this, and sure enough, on my passenger side I'm getting this scuffing. See image below:

I'll be patching this up pretty soon. I'm getting a dent on the outside too. Good job I caught it this early.

By the way, it looks like I might have had a bodged repair done at some point before I bought this. Surely the hood shouldn't be held together with cable ties!?!?!

Why did they call it a "Midship Runabout"?!?! Surely "Mid-Engine Roadster" would have sounded better.

Well this explains a lot. When I bought my 2 in August last year it had a roof repair in exactly the spot that's been talked about here. It was already like it when the previous owner bought it and I wasn't bothered as it was a good repair.

After reading this i'm going to check the passenger side to make sure that it doesn't go the same way!

Ahhh...I love you all...  I have an identical hole, and now I know how to sort it...

Apparently, boat repair places do some good stuff for repairs...if I didn't live so far inland, there might be a shop around...  Perhaps a drive to the seaside is in order...oh, the hardship!    s:wink:  s:wink:

Perhaps a trip to Essex might be in order too, as my hood is rather tatty...   m http://www.hoodsgaloreuk.co.uk/ m

Oh, dammit!  It looks as though I should've looked on here yesterday, instead of whipping the roof down and getting lost on an impromtu tour of Oxfordshire!    s:D :D s:D

It's chucking it down with rain today...pah!    s:( :( s:(

Had the same with a new roof fitted last year, my dealer fitted a small patch to the inside of the roof in both areas to prevent scuffing, althought the patch is coming loose at the edges it still protects the inside. As mine was a new roof I was told there are a few minor differences to the earlier covers however theres no protetive patches on my rivits to the frame. Gonna ensure there is now before the roofs down to much now.I can recommend Hoodsgalore as a real nice bunch of blokes who helped me find the probs with mine.

I know this is a bit cheeky, but how much was the new roof (if you don't mind me asking)?

No problem in what you ask however I simply dont know as the roof was replaced on the car as a part of the sale to me. I understand that the skin alone is around £1200 retail and that it can take 2 days to fit. My dealer cocked it up 1st time and then for the next go brought a specialist but it still took a couple of days. Amazing the dealer was so good about it when I returned the car as the roof wouldnt fold down, he even confessed to me that its not the sort of job even the best technican should get involved with as its too specialised.

Thats probably why there's a brand new one on Ebay at the moment - "bought it for my car, sold it, but the buyer didn't want it".

Having said that £150 is a cracking   s:wink:  s:wink:  price if you've broken your glass.
