10w40 Oil

Another Thread, sorry guys, but when i got the car back i asked what oil he had used? and he said he used 10w40!!

is that usable in our cars? will it wreck my engine? do i need to do another oil change straght away and use 5w30??

FFS there is so much on oil on here it's untrue, even if you can't be bothered to search for it at least keep it to the thread ref your engine problems.
