That's odd, I have been using Blue Streak for the last 2 years to service all out cars including the MR2, they removed the pre cats on our car. He has done all the work on it and has always charged a fair and honest price, he reads any fault codes for free instead of charging which is a nice thing to do.

Pretty sure the guy who runs it  is called Richard, he is usually good at returning calls. I will give him a buzz today and see what the score is. I hope to god he hasn't gone out of business as it is the only place i trust.

Good to know they are still in business for the future although I never did hear from them.
Got the pre cats and a few other jobs done by Matt so the jobs a good un.

Target Mini for those who live near Swansea, they did a great job, removed the Pre-cat for £70 (depending on if your bolts want to come off), and fixed another issue I had for free!  s:) :) s:) . They also asked if they were on a forum or something, because they keep having a lot of MR2 precat removal recently   s:wink: :wink: s:wink:  

They are located in Waunarlwydd, fairly easy to find, pretty much on the main road in Waunarlwydd.

West of Scotland . Had my precats removed today by MURRAY AUTO SERVICES LTD in Helensburgh.( 03 with 49000 miles) Done while I waited , charges for time it takes couple of hours if no probs with studs etc. I had new joint and couple studs. Brilliant service from a well respected ,honest and reliable guy.  Should be £80/£100 ish without parts .  Give IAN a call and say Tony recommended from MR2 Club. Tel 01436 679300.

Well just returned to the MR2 fold after having a MK2 a few years ago and after dismissing the MK3 years ago given the "lower bhp" (I was ignorant to power to weight ratio at the time!!).

I have to say I'm more than impressed, however first job is to have the precats removed (if they aren't already) I'm considering ordering a stainless manifold at about £130.  But can anyone advise a good garage in the South Yorkshire area that you have trusted with your 2?

I'll also be having a service including new iridium plugs, as it's due and I can see me possibly having to have one of the  lambda sensors replaced as I think theres a slight misfire.  With my usual garage which I use for the Jag (chalk and cheese I know) I normally buy all the service parts myself and just pay for the labour.

Grateful for any recommendations as I need to get everything in order sharpish, the 2 is really tormenting me just sitting outside.

Just had the pre cats done by Andy from Bonzai Car Services in Weston Super Mare:  m http://www.bonsai-wsm.com m  (07885 22 77 29).

He did the job with no issues and renewed the gaskets too, all for £60.

Some of the nuts were a bit tight but nothing a heat gun and WD 40 can't sort out. I was recommended him by Alex Knight, and I have to say he does seem to know his stuff. If you need any sort of mechanical work doing I would give him a call!

Bought my 52 plate MR2 just under a month ago & just found out about the precat problem.

Can anybody recommend please a garage in the Norwich area to remove the precats & also for general maintenance/servicing?

Servicing and maintenance work you do no wrong than to use Roys motor company mate, sprowston road ,  have used them to service my Lexus and all my toyota's always a superb job and not ripped off. Been using them for last twenty plus years. Not sure if they would remove the precats but I done mine myself and took me two hours and cost £16.40 for a new manifold gasket. Give Ian at Roys a ring and ask him. If he not sure he can always give me a call and I will tell him what I did.
Just say phil from lowestoft with low mileage MR2 and lexus RX, Rav, IQ.

anyone know of a good mechanic that will remove my pre cats around the east yorks area ?  looking at all the problems with these things ( and the ones i currently have ) i will bite the bullet and get shut of them, rather than forking out all the time

Having decided to finally remove pre-cats as i bought her at 80,000K and she is by no means a young girl anymore. I can recommend Oatlands Garage in Harrogate.

Been using them for years and not only removed pre-cats, but spotted that gasket was going, so replaced that as well.

Will update with price when I get the invoice. At least I don't have that nagging feeling that my engine is going to destroy itself now.   s:D :D s:D

Nathan at Mr Two's in Willenhall did my pre-cats last week. He still only charges £50 for this. Highly recommended.

Got a 2006 model with just under 80 on the clock ,it seems the pre cat issue isnt as likely on this year but would still prefer them out.

Any suggestions in the surrey or middlesex areas. thanks

Had mine removed last week by Nathan @ MrTwos also £50  :-) :-) :-)  great guy gave me some good advice knows his stuff. Well recommended if in the west mids area or visiting

I've had a quick scan on these pages and i couldn't see anything, is there anywhere in Suffolk that would do this?
