15" vs 16" any mrT mods when stock size changed?

the stock rear wheel size was Changed from 15" to 16" as we all Know. what I'm wondering is were there any other changes made to the 2 to allow for the increase In size? I have a pre Changeover model and was thinking of going with 16" with low profiles! Does anyone know it the acceleration in the newer models is slower because of the increased size or have  the gearing ratios been adjusted to compensate?

I have no idea whether there were any other changes, but the change in rolling circumference between the 215/45 16" tyres and the old 205/50 15" tyres is less than 2.5%.
