White smoke is coming from my exhaust for the 1st mile then it goes back to normal.

The car hasnt got any pre-cats & everything else seems to be fine.

Apart from this the car seems to be running normal.

Does anyone knw what is causing this & what could the solution be?

I had this on an old escort, it was the valve stem seals...

Is it white smoke or just steam? The latter is quite normal.

Try smell/taste it, does it seem sweet? Better watch out for your coolant level if it does.
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Combined with the white smoke = failed head gasket or worse (cracked head / block etc  s:( :( s:(  )

Today i had my m8 have a look at it n he said that that one of the cylinders is misfiring, its smoking heavy n that there is a knocking noise from the engine.
He also said that the engine mite need stripping.

Any clues on what could the cause be?

Probably water in the cylinder, these are high compression engines that only have room for the fuel and air on compression, add water that can't be compressed it will make 1 poorly engine. Stop using it, get the head off and hope it's just a blown head gasket.

the engine seems ok, its just smoking heavy for about the 1st mile or 2 then everthing is ok. but if your on a stand still n rev heavy it will smoke heavy again

Still needs sorting. As your moving the water is being pumped around the system fast so is probably not going through the cylinder gap/crack, or not so much anyway. When it is sitting or ticking over the water is pumped alot slower and the pressure builds up then it finds it's way past the problem in your head/block/gasket.

You won't do it any favours leaving it and now if it's just a head gasket it is a relatively easy/cheap job. It will just get worse until the cylinder fills up with so much water the engine won't be able to turn over.

Good luck with it.
