I have no idea how long I've had these, since I normally run the PFC. They come on as soon as I turn the power on, don't have to start the car. And I get no more after I start the car.

This one's easy, I don't have the charcoal canister or the valve and figured it would show up.

But any idea about the other two? The list in reference library doesn't have anything starting with 1.  s:? :? s:?

Found these through Google, but they don't seem MR2 related?

Then I found this:

P1656 OCV Circuit.

Uhm...any ideas what they mean in real life?  s:? :? s:?

Ah, found something with P1349, no hits with 1349.  s:? :? s:?

I wonder where this valve is physically?

Or this one?

P1349 VVT System.

Interesting. Both went away with the charcoal canister valve. It's not even connected into the vacuum lines, just sitting there.

Code 1349 is output if the VVT system can no longer control the timing, specifically if there is no change in the timing value when the system is becomes active (engine revs in range and engine warmed up). The manual suggests the following:-
1. Valve timing - unlikely?
2. OCV - the servo valve which controls the VVT, located adjacent to the number 1 inlet port. You can check this using one of the diagnostic functions in the Toyota tester
3. VVT controller - the actuator on the camshaft
4. ECM
The manual suggests 1349 may be triggered by a momentary fault which they say might be caused by particles in the oil.

Code 1656 is outpt if there is an open or short in the OCV circuit. The manual suggests
1. OCV circuit fault
2. OCV failure
3. ECM

I would have thought that 1349 was almost certainly caused by whatever caused 1656 - if it is intermittent as you say then it might be worth checking the wiring to the valve

I can't help much with 0443 as it's not in my manual, but theres no common feature in the electrical system which might explain it, so perhaps it's just a coincidence

0443 was easy, it was the charcoal canister valve, like I assumed. I didn't have it at all.

1656 was also easy, once I actually figured out what it meant. The OCV valve wasn't plugged in.  s:? :? s:?  Probably left it open when I put the engine back in the car.

1349 is a weird one. I've gotten it twice now. And then it keeps away for quite some time. Maybe the OCV is about to die..

I suppose the OCV is dead. Apparently it doesn't trigger a CEL before the coolant temp is 80C or more and since I have the TRD thermostat, it doesn't normally go over that...

Anyone ever changed the OCV? Anything special in it?
