Sounds like a logical way of working it out, but i've not got much mechanical knowledge so cant really advise! Would be really interested to know the outcome of this though to see if this is a decent way of working out if there are problems with injectors.

Swap the injectors around and see if the problem follows the injector (bad injector) or the wiring - it's an easy job when you get down to it.

If it's the injector then you could try getting it professionally cleaned, but if it's simply not firing then it could be the coil - in which case it's either get it remanufactured (hard to find in this country, it seems) or replace it.

If you replace it, best to get the remaining three flow tested at the same time, if not replaced, to ensure they are all flowing the same amount of fuel.

How comes once I left the car for a couple of days and then started driving again it felt completley fine?

Could an injector have a Intermittent fault?

Are they any other signs for an injector at fault?

How easy is it to remove an injector, whats the process?

Sorry about all the questions.

It does sound the same as what I'm experiencing. How much do injectors sell for roughly?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure there are some floating around within the club - put a wanted request in the for sale section.

I have some injectors, although I'm currently down to three after the fix on Pam's car that Rob mentions and I'd like to get that back to a complement of four if I can...

However, I'm sure someone on here will be breaking a set. If you are, and you're reading this, perhaps you'd consider selling one to Livi and one to me (via Pam)?

Rob's diagnosis on Pam's car was spot on and simply done with a plug-out sniff test across the chambers to confirm no fuel getting through to cylinder 3.

Not being able to read any JSpec codes is no big deal because if you threw any CELs an injector problem would manifest as an ignition code in any case!

If you need further confirmation, do the sniff test.

Aside: I stumbled across a very good way of checking coil packs/plugs this week: piece of pipe held firm on the top of the coilpack and up to your ear - you can hear them tick/tick/ticking with very little disturbance from other noises.  s8) 8) s8)

*edit - can't remember where you live, but you're welcome to head this way if you need some help. I think I may have some new spare injector o-rings kicking about too (if i can find them  s:oops:  s:oops:  )

Something somewhere on spyderchat I think  s:?: :?: s:?:

Its more fiddly than difficult....

Disconnect battery and put all cigarettes out.
Vent pressure from fuel tank
Unclip injector connections and harness ties to give a bit of room
Remove two bolts holding the rail
Ease the rail up, getting newspaper underneath the 'jectors as they come out
*injectors have a rubber seat at the base....if this doesn't lift off with the injector make sure that it hasn't come adrift from the cylinder head (small mirror handy for this)*
More newspaper to catch fuel as you pull the offending injector out (its a firm interference fit - needs a good wiggle)
Replace with new injector and preferably new top O-ring
bolt everything down and check that injectors rotate slightly with equal resistance across all four.
Reconnect etc.... fire up and check for leaks

I think this might be a job too far for me. I have replaced plugs and coil packs but this looks too complex for me to do.

Any preference on where to take car to get work done?
