I've done a quick search but couldn't find a topic that covered my question.

Will 225/45/16 fit on the standard back 16's on my 2004 roadster?

It currently has nearly bald 215's on there but I want to go wider   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

225x40x16 is what you are looking for.

Toyo T1R is the tyre you want.

They will fit on the 16" rims. How much wider is open to debate as the wider you go, the more you pull in the sidewalls on the relatively narrow rim. I run 225/45 R16 (Hankook RS-2) with no problems. I did get a very slight loss of acceleration due to the 3% taller gearing (the tyres are slightly bigger rolling radius than 215/45s).

225/40 may be better in this respect, but you may be right at the bottom end , or below recommended rim size for some types of tyre. Hankook, for example specify a 7.5" rim minimum for a 225/40 tyre.

The Toyos soft sidewalls make them pretty tolerant of smaller rim sizes. IIRC Toyo reckon you can go to a 7" rim on that size, so it is probably the best size to run for T1R.

they will fit....but it will have that rounded donut look because the tyre width is much wider than the 7inch rim. I just had Falken FK452s 225/45R16 fitted yesterday.

Although, a half to one inch wider rim would no doubt add some weight despite looking a little nicer.  s:wink:  s:wink:
