Morning Guys,

I've owned my MR2 for about a year now and have read about the whining sound that comes from them when idling, kind of like an alternator whine, that changes pitch when you put pressure on the steering wheel.

My car's always had this whine, albeit quite quiet, and I've never been bothered by it, until last night when I was sitting in traffic and the whine has definitely gotten a lot louder.

What could this signify? Dying alternator? Power steering pump failure? Dying battery? (I'm not too sure when the battery was last replaced, but  I have had to put it on charge a couple of times over the winter so it could be near its last legs)

Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated  s:) :) s:)

Thanks Liz  s:) :) s:)  I hear what you're saying about mini's! They're terrible!

So I shouldn't be worrying despite the fact it's seemingly gotten louder of late?
