Quote from: puma2 on April 27, 2022, 07:42:) now this year i  used Airsports insurance Bureau .
the same cover as last year with A plan .
this years price £240.

the renewal was close to £300 with A plan

Airsports are defiantly worth a go for quote and was the best i could get but i cancelled them for certain reasons to myself.

Now with Chris Knott with a  agreed value for this year at £8000 for £300
£250 excess underwriter Highway

The Other Stu

So mine has gone up considerably since changing to a 2ZZ.
Highway requote with Greenlight was going to be £293. I've managed to get it down to £270 using Flux (no-one else could get near).

Quite annoying when I see people getting £105 for a 1ZZ. It's not that different - car is fairly standard other than the engine now (old one wasn't).

I'm 50, full NCB, it's a 2nd car and insured for only 5k a year. I live in a "Green" area (low insurance) and apparently being a "club" member, it can lower the insurance by 20%.

Whereas my daily has 1 years NCB. It's a Mercedes with not dissimilar BHP, miles more torque and is insured for lots of miles (12k I think?) including business mileage.

Costs me £236 (Off the top of my head).

Lancaster Insurance are excellent to deal with. UK based company and run by enthusiasts. Cheaper than other insurers by a long shot (Churchill wanted £287).

Insurance renewal received today from Lancaster Insurance for £523.56 which is 3 times higher than last year. Spoke to them on the phone, they said because I only owned one car on classic car insurance, claim costs are higher. I told them I now also own a smart fortwo, the quote then came down to £242.54 which is still £55 higher than last year.

GoCompare search resulted in a quote of £129.60 from Performance Direct.  ;D

All 3 of our cars on a multicar policy with LV=
Renewal for the 2 came back at £200 (was £120 last year)
Looked through price comparison sites for individual policies but the renewals for the other 2 cars seemed competitiveso I called and got £60 knocked off.  but the insurer only reduced the MR2 to £195 and my other car by £55 (which made the renewal on that very competitive)
£959 for 3 cars and a total of 40k miles pa

I pay around the same for three cars, all fully comp protected, social, domestic and commuting. I had multicar up to last year but it became to expensive so went with separate companies.

2002 Mondeo 2.5 V6 Zetec S £360 1st Central

Up around £250 from last year...£280 Tesco (renewal too expensive),£240 AA (would not renew) and £170 Performance Direct (stayed with them)

I pay £180 with Performance Direct for the MR2 (up £10 from last year). Ridiculously good price. I have two other cars so only 2 years NCB on the MR2 although i've owned it 12 (used my 2 full NCB on the other two cars as they are higher groups)

From Performance Direct's website:
QuotePerformance Direct's success is founded on providing value for money, private and commercial insurance cover. Many clients first find Performance Direct because we can help them with a more unusual insurance requirement – a performance or prestige car, an import, classic or modified vehicle, or, perhaps, a motorcycle.
It's definitely value for money.
