Mine started like this:

That happened in the night, parked outside my house.. no note, of course.

Good job I kept the pre '03 lights to put back in, eh? Shame about the bumper, but I really can't be bothered fixing the car anymore - it can just slowly turn into a shed at the hands of others, now.

It could have been worse, given where they hit - they could have taken the corner of the wing with them.. then again, that wing is covered in dents after the last person hit me five years ago anyway!

Its such a gutting feeling coming out and finding a damage to the car from a careless idiot. Had it happen on my old Audi after I had the bumper and wing painted.

I did have a nice bloke reverse into my old audi and knock on the door and claim fault so there are some good people in the world.

That's shabby Aaron, seems to be the norm. nowadays though. I've had the rear bumper on the '2 scuffed, aswell as a big dint on the chrome bumper on the Navara. No details left on either occassion.

Most "touching" story involved my wife - she went back to an old Laguna we had to find an old lady waiting at the car. Her shopping trolley had got away from her and put a scratch/ding on the 3/4 panel. She was genuinely upset about it and offered to pay. The wife phoned me because she wasn't sure what to do - we decided to send the old woman on her way as we intended to get shut of the Laguna anyway. Just a shame not everyone has the same values as that old woman.

A couple of weeks ago I parked at a supermarket in really strong winds.  When I opened the LARGE and HEAVY Verso door it was snatched from my hand and embedded in the door of a small MPV alongside.  I went into the shop without saying anything, thinking that the injured party could always ask to see me (from plate) should they wish.  When I returned (1hr) the car was still there so I put a note in the w/screen explaining what had happened, apologising and leaving a 'phone number.  So far nobody has contacted me, and yes, I did ensure a secure location for the note under/around the wiper?   What gives??

You must have heard the tale of the guy who backed into a parked car whilst leaving a parking bay in a crowded shopping precinct. He got out, wrote a note and left it under the windscreen wiper. The note said 'the onlookers think I'm leaving my name and address'.
Seriously, I've had a few of these 'dings' and all it does is costs you money. Company car is the best solution but those days are gone for me.

I once took the offside wing mirror off an old Mini on one of my first driving lessons. Was too busy worrying about what was coming down Coggeshall high street towards me that I didn't notice myself drifting left... BANG! Took the bugger clean off. Pulled over, and my Dad went and found the woman who owned it in one of the antique shops there and told her where to send the bill. Only cost him £50 in the end, but I don't recall him taking me out for any more driving lessons afterwards though   s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:

Not a scratch on my classy 1.3L Escort mk4 though. She was a beaut.

Well it's official - there is no longer a single straight panel on the drivers side of my car after someone put a nice big crease in the front wing for me this morning.

I give in.. I'm not even going to bother to fix them. Just keep running the car until it dies, then push it to a scrap yard, I think.

Today is the day the car stopped being my 'baby' and became a lump of metal that moves me around   s:( :( s:(

It'd be nice if the old addage "what comes around, goes around" were true. Because I'm sure there'd be several people running around with a nasty STD or other incurable genetal affliction.  s:twisted:  s:twisted:

Really feel for you mate - feel bad to hear you say that.

Some of the numpties driving around out there are so infuriating, especially when they don't even have the decency to leave you a note

Years ago I had an Escort estate, someone drove into the drivers side door, the inside door card was touching the seat so it must have been hit with some force. No note of course, paint remains on my car but police weren't interested.

My sister-in-law's car was hit by a car which was racing, wrong side of the road, near a school! Her parked car was moved 3 meters and was a write off. The other car was left and driver did a runner, not insured and car was reported stolen but the theory is the owner was driving and was not insured so claimed it was stolen. He sent his parents round to get some stuff from the car, didn't turn up himself incase someome recognised him! She got another car which was hit by a milk float 3 weeks later, driver left and denied everything. Paint on her car could have been matched with the milk float but again, police not interested. The muppet was seen inspecting the damage after a bang was heard by a neighbour but since he didn't see it everything was denied.

Sorry about your car, by this time I assume you have moved and hopefully you decide to repair your MR2.

Oh the car is movable - it's back in my driveway now.. it's just a nice crease in the panel, most likely from the giant 4x4 that was next to me (if I had to guess, he swung the front around too early and nerfed the side of my car).

I don't think I'll be repairing it, though - at this point it needs a new front wing (from this incident), a new drivers door (from an incident a few years ago), a new rear wing (same incident years ago) and a new rear bumper (from a few months ago) -- all times I've been hit while parked in carparks or outside my own house.  I figure that would set me back some £3-400 on body panels, plus fitting, plus painting..

Ah well, it's just a car, I suppose.

I'm not sure it'd be worth losing the 12 years NCB - I suspect that would make a fair difference to the cost of my insurance over the next few years  s:( :( s:(

Really the whole car needs doing now - back bumper, all the drivers side panels, front bumper could do with replacing/fixing after someone levered the nose badge out years ago, there's a big scratch on the passenger side.. I just can't afford (nor justify, given this seems to just keep happening!) a full respray.

In reality I think it's time I chopped the car in.. but having just bought a house, I can't really afford to do that either!

The thoughtless careless cunts that we have to share the world with can grind you down. Getting another car just gives them a new target. How about hand painting it mat black and running a rat motor?
