Hey its been a while since this thread was updated as there has only been spasmodic progress on the car...

However the car was nearly finished enough to book for a dyno tune, so we booked it in at NZEFI in Christchurch, with the idea of it hopefully making its competition debut at a Street Sprint event on 14 May. Unfortunately they are booked that far ahead that this was looking impossible, until they phoned at 5pm one right with a cancellation if we could be there by 9am the next morning, so it was a rush & a late night getting the car finished & ready to go...

So it has been for its dyno run & we ended up with 372hp at the rear wheels, which is pretty good straight up... and there is still a bit more in the tank. and a pretty reasonable rev range as well

So the next step is off to the track for some testing, but both our local circuits only have one test day each between now & the Sprints (and the boss is away at Rally NZ for one of those) so it looks like we will only get one days testing & be taking a brand new car to the Sprints, of course providing that it performs Ok at the track!

Sorry there are no videos of the dyno run, but we weren't there for it all, I will try to get one from the track...

When you get some free time why not add yourself to the new "garage" feature so this thread/car doesnt get forgotten in time?

As promised here is a video of the cars very first run on the track....

We had the opportunity to turn some laps during the lunch break at a Classic race meeting so a good chance to finally give the car a shakedown.
It has a few minor niggles as expected, just things like some tyre rub & things, but overall a successful first run...

and the video here...

Yes the mount was taken from another race car so we could at least get some footage. Camera mount is on the 'to do' list but hasnt made it to the top...    s:D :D s:D

Sorry its been a while between posts, but there hasn't really been anything exciting to report.... We have had two race days recently.

First was a Club day at our local Levels Raceway & we had the car seriously under sprung and over geared, resulting in me stalling in 2 of the 3 starts and in the last race I cooked the clutch trying to get started. Still posted a reasonable laptime of 1.07.332
Couple of pics here...

Second outing was at Ruapuna for the Premier Championship Series where we run in "Production GT" class on DOT rated tyres. A boost problem meant only 6th in qualifying, then a harsh call meant starting race 1 from the pit lane, but still managed to come through the field to win. race 2 was reverse grid and another win & class lap record of 1.31.519, but the boost problem came back for race 3 so just cruised round to finish. Happy with the results considered we haven't even started making changes to the suspension set-up yet, plus we were slightly undergeared for Ruapuna, meaning I had to get out of the throttle before the end of the main straight, plus I was struggling to reach full throttle (as the video shows) so a few wee issues to get sorted. Videos of the test sessions are below, the camera didn't work during the races  s:( :( s:(

and a video from inside my brothers car (Corolla DX KE70 Sedan with a 7AGTE 20 valve engine). The MR-S shows up at 32 seconds into the video.

For those in NZ, the races from Ruapuna will be on the Gillette Motorsport TV show on January 8th 2012.

Brilliant - from pit lane to race win in 6 laps.  You made the other cars look rather slow.  The handling seemed to be a big factor as well as the power.  Great post.

Sorry its been a while between posts again... We havent really done any development on the car as yet, just done a couple of race meetings to get the gear ratios sorted. Next thing is to do a couple of days testing to get the suspension settings sorted.

And here are a couple of videos from our latest race meeting;

Race 1: Qualified & started 8th from 35 cars. Unfortunately had a clash on first lap that bent the steering. I pit to assess the damage then carry on to finish 9th from 35 cars even with the toe-in out by over 10mm
 m http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWfP3xsH ... ature=plcp m

Race 2: A reverse grid race so start near the back & work my way through the 35 car field until a rose joint breaks ending the race.
 m http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iVR0Qk9Uis m

Race 3: Didnt get past the warm up lap with a boost issue so no video

Race 4:  Another scratch race so started 6th & finished 4th. Just didnt have the straight line speed of the other fast cars. Still some good battles during the weekend. A few of the cars we raced with are listed below the video link.
