Quote from: "Raw"Hi.  Just to keep you all informed.   I have now bought this project and should have it all completed by Mid August.

Dropping the engine next week to make sure all is OK with the mechanics.  This will then all be put back together and shipped off to RaceTech in Sheffield on 27th July for them to build a new wiring loom for the aftermarket ECU and tune it on their rolling road.   All it needs then is an MOT and it's away.

I'll take some more photos etc and drop them on here over the next few weeks - Hopefully the odd video link when it's on the rolling road.

Any reason why you chose Racetech Motorsport?

Best of luck with the plans.

I called the company who made the aftermarket ECU supplied with the car and they were one of the 2 companies closest to me who could undertake the work.  After a conversation with both, RaceTech understood what I had and what I wanted to achieve.   They do 50 of the same ECUs every year, so for them this is run of them mill stuff.

It would be great to see it running and hear the noise, the only ones I have seen are the motor installed, never actually being driven!

Are you going to stick with the original gearbox choice? I have looked into this sort of swap before but been put off by the impractical gearing. Of course, compared to a standard mr2 it'll still be lightning fast, but I'd want to unleash the full potential of the package!

Looking forwards to seeing this running whatever your choices are mate!

I remember reading this on IMOC, I was loving it up to the point the crossmember had a huge section cut out of it. Do you have any pans to re-design that?

I remember him redesigning the whole thing and building an entirely new spaceframe/subframe.

We are going to stick with the existing gearbox to start with and see how it practical it is.

When it has its MOT, brake testing equipment weighs the car front & rear (if you asked the tester to kindly step out each time) would be interesting to see the F/R weight distribution  s:) :) s:)

Sounds good. They also do good fabrication work by the way. Expensive but very good. Best of luck with the build. I'll keep an eye on it  s:) :) s:)

I wonder how he solved the problem of cutting the cross member in half, a crucial piece of metal for holding the two halve of the chassis together and locating the suspension at the back?I can just picture the V8 pushing the back wheels and taking each side of the car in opposite directions.
Cute & fluffy animals were definitely hurt during the production of this post, there're plenty more where they came from

I dont think this is ever going to be done properly.
Shame.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

From the pictures, the small issue of the fuel tank not being there might cause some concern too.  s:lol:  s:lol:

It appears to b a perpetual project.

It takes a vast amount of time, money, and expertise to get a project like this on the road and even moreso fully exploitable.

There are very few people with the energy to complete it, IMO. Who knows where it will end up.

Yep, starting it is probably a good place to getting along the lines of finishing it. All from scratch.

It's a tremendous project, but there are a number of things that are very wrong with it. For example, the crossmember is not something that I think many people can say is acceptable, something needs to be done with it to fit the engine in, but where it is currently welded, very interesting to say the least.

Thought so, I know it's been running before but the lack of subframe is what i think the main issue is. Best to speak to Paul at woodsport as he started the whole thing.
