Resetting the mileage

Anyone know the way to reset the mileage to 0..?

Local dealer does this just before they give a new car to first owner, but refuse to tell how or even do it at all.

Just wondering cause my engine has 0 miles on it, I'd love the computer say the same. (yeah, I know the body still has the 28tkm)

Probably  s:oops: :oops: s:oops:  I mean the odometer.

Over here it's perfectly legal though. Germany seems to be full of shops which do that, but don't feel like driving there  s8) s8)

you have to plug a gadget into the back of the speedo i think. there are some specialist out there

Over here they log the mileage yearly anyway and I had some 25tkm last time, so it's pretty obvious. Couldn't cheat even if I wanted to  s;) s;)

thats a bloody good idea, england should start to force people to do this rather than making it optional.

I tried to log my mileage when I renewed my tax in Jan & the Post Office handed me the renewal notice back & said "It's new policy" so I doubt that the optional mileage registration works now  s:x :x s:x  

Unless of course they log it on the computer (which I doubt)

The only other way I know of logging yearly milage is; when you have M.O.T, so you never know until then.

There are many individuals that advertise their companies as 'mileage correction' and use a lap top to complete. Any digital odometer can be adjusted to any mileage and I beleive they charge about £100 a time.  know someone that has used one of these companies and could get a number of him if required. Have you done a search on the web  s:?: :?: s:?:

Its not illegal to change your odometer reading in the UK. Its only illegal to pass the new reading off as thr "true" reading when you come to sell it on...

I think it's probably legal if you don't hide the fact that it's happenned though I'm not sure it's a good practice.

That would be an MoT then, though leaves it well open for abuse in the first 3 years.

Doesn't really help if I find someone in Germany or UK who can do it there, as the car is in Finland  s;) s;)
