How easy is it to adjust your trackrods?

I had some new front tyres fitted the other day and noticed driving home that the steering wheel was offset anticlockwise. As the car was in for a service the next day I asked my dealer if he would sort it. When I picked the car up the steering wheel was now pointing the other way – they had taken the wheel off and moved it round, they hadn't touched the tracking. After various trips back to the dealer and the tyre fitter the tracking has now been adjusted and the steering wheel put back on in its original position, but the steering wheel is still slightly offset. Its not too bad, just a bit annoying. I don't really want to go back to the tyre place again as they will be sick of the sight of me. Would there be any harm in just tweaking the track rods myself, or am I likely to upset the tracking?

Thanks,

Paul
