Just changed radiator but.....

i changed the radiator after a breakdown i suffered the other day, did all the repairs on the roadside where the car broke down two days later.....

radiator was only £60 delivered

anyway after changing the radiator i left all the black plastic covering off, i reinstalled the bucket that was it.

My dad told me today that i should put it back on as it helps to drain the water away safely.....

so question is

in the long term should i put the big covering back on the car to protect certain parts or can i leave it off

It's not needed and is only really there to make it look good
