I'm thinking about using 225 40 16 rear tyres on my facelift roadster. As they are slightly wider are they likely to rub? Will they still be ok if I lower the car in the future? The reason for 225 over the original 215 45 is due to choice and cost.

dont think it would be a problem people run 245 on the rear

I run that size on stock 16" rims and my 2 is lowered. Works fine for me. Had a full alignment done after lowering which is a good thing to do.

I do have 225-35-17 and those won't rub at all. It is almost same radius as 225-40-16.
