Rattle from Hell

A rattle is plaguing me in my 2.

At first I thought it was the steel tax disc holder touching the windscreen – wrong!

Then I thought it was sourced from the left passenger air vent – wrong!

Now I know (think!) it's a combination of the glove box and the left passenger air vent. The rattle occurs, as the glove box touches the underneath on the plastic tube of the vent.

Mr T has tried padding the area but it still rattles. I am aware of other owners rattles with the glove box, and I've gone on  m http://www.autoshop101.com/autoshop15.html m  
and  m http://www.planetkc.com/rande/tsb/tsb.htm m , but cant make head nor tail of it!

Help me before I rip the glove box –/ vent out and burn it in a fit of madness!
