The 2 had to go into intensive care this forenoon.I've been nursing it for a few weeks now - Adding coolant daily, knowing there was a leak in the system - just could not determine exactly where - Well the 2 gave up her secret yesterday - Nearside bottom of Radiator (obvious road damage to corner)Luckily because of cold weather no overheating has occurred!! - Now - what shall I do this weekend - Origami, Flower arranging or sit by the phone waiting for updates on replacement?  s:cry:  s:cry:

Why didn't you just replace the radiator your self?

I was told it a easy job, maybe it a lie.

what the total in cost ?

Take the front plastics out, take the alarm with it just unplug.
Remove the 2 brackets under that which hold the bins and the rad in place.
Break off the 2 rusty bolts in the process or use lots of plusgas.
Remove the hoses (bit of a bugger) take out the rad to see all the holes in it.
reverse the process.

Here's a howto for coolant bleeding:

oh yeah Coolant is a good idea, it takes about 6.5 litres IIRC

Even if posted in English, it won't help if you have no tools. I wonder if the end cap seal have given up on the rad? Had one of those blow myself a while back.

Got an advisory on the MOT though - front tyres showing deterioration on outside edges even if the treads are well within limits- So I reckon I'll bide my time. Both are Toyos and as far as I can tell they are still available but not so common as they used to be.Am I right?

So much better to hear from someone, in their own words, who has done the job themselves.
A series of links, sometimes from different cars only leads to confusion.

I've never done the job myself but advice from the likes of Mkiii or D!ck2ski and many others who see a Mk3 regularly, carry much more gravitas.

I put 195/50/15 on the front at £34 each, and 225/40/16 on the back at £63 each.

£10 a corner to get them fitted from a local garage.
