I've noticed for a while my steering seemed to be getting heavier but would loosen up after a few miles.  The car has been parked for a week and I drove it for the first time today and it was horrendous,  the steering was reluctant to turn at all and was very jerky when it did.  Power steering fluid is at normal levels so I'm thinking pump?  Any suggestions?

A basic pump test is quite easy, get in the car and try to turn the wheels from lock to lock. Then start the engine and do it and it should be relatively easy.

Lots of posts on here about semi- seized universal joints on the column which could be the problem.
