will ecu need a relearn if i disconect battery!

Just found out my one of my cylinders has no compression so will need to find another engine, but while it sitting i dont want to flatten the battery as its only a day old but if i disconnect the battery will the ecu reset and need a relearn?

Yes if you disconnect the battery the ecu will reset and once the car is fixed will need to relearn its fuel trims and idle settings etc , its no biggie, just a few miles driving and it will be back to normal.

There is a process to take the smt through when you change the clutch, not sure where it's written down ... maybe in the technical library. I'm not sure if the SMT actually needs to relearn though if you're just changing the engine, or having the power off long enough. i've no experience of the smt. but there is a guy on here who may be able to answer you once he's up & about for the day.
Cute & fluffy animals were definitely hurt during the production of this post, there're plenty more where they came from
