Shock covers, an interesting solution?

OK it's not for me, I don't have a problem.

But I seem to remember one or two people having problems where the bellows covers of their shock absorbers have failed and not people have been challenging them. The Toyota ones are expensive, and the rears come attached to the top mounts.

I've just been looking at spares for my BC coilovers and realised that theirs might fit the standard shocks and they're pretty cheap. It might be worth someone giving them a try?  m http://www.bc-racing.co.uk/accessories.html m

Did anyone try these?

I am tempted but had a quick look at the OEM ones yesterday on the car and they seem to have a large rubber bit attached at the top?

My drivers side is in two bits.  s:( :( s:(

It was only an idea, you could cut the bump stops off the originals and reuse them or look for something similar on eBay.

£23 each for the OEM's.

£18 incl. postage for two BC's which might not fit.........

Bit the bullet and ordered a couple of Toyota ones off Chris. One of mine isn't split so might get a few quid back for that one, or just be able to help a member out/keep for spare.

A bit of an OCD man (aren't we all) so will have to change both!!!!!

Edge 306 speakers, Alpine CDE 235BT, sound deadened doors.
Full facelift conversion including bracing, sub frame, the works...

I'd say that the BC option is a jolly good one. Many people have the shredded boots and the OEM ones are daft prices for what they are. We modify so many bits on these cars, I can't see why these wouldn't be a great thing to try.

I guess the front ones with the large hole?

Whilst on Spyder chat I found a similar thread and some of the guys over there had problems with after market boots being to wide. This meant that they got stuck in the spring and didn't work. They weren't BC ones but similar I think. Might be worth asking what diameter they are ad measuring your own springs. I think OEM springs were ok, but a guy who had after market springs fitted had problems.........
