Rear toe/trailing arm settings?

Having replaced my rear subframe with a FL variant, I now have to refit the rearmost trailing arms, sometimes called the 'toe arms'. To clarify, it's the ones with the ball joints on one end!

The issue I have, is that the 'plates' with the increments were so badly corroded upon removal, i had no idea they had increments on them until i cleaned them up with the drill and wire brush attachement. Realising i need to do a proper 4 wheel alignment regardless, I still need to drive it safely to where ever it is i take it. Is there a 'neutral setting' i could use to get me on the road?

If it was me I would use a strip of wood/plastic and rest it against your alloys pointing down the length of the car, adjust the tracking so it is 'something like' straight or slightly pointing in towards the front. Then taking it steady on the road, get it re-tracked ASAP.

Yeah this is about the best way of getting your toe in roughly right, gets you somewhere to get it done properly. This is how I set the alignment on bikes and never had a problem ... advantage of a bike is it's not as long and you can measure the offset against the front wheel

Can't argue with that! Great idea! I've never had a vehicle with adjustable rear suspension components and hence, not had a 'proper' 4WA done - what is it I'm actually asking for, over and above what ATS/Kwik Fit etc do when getting your tracking done? Is this a specialist job done by a motorsport expert?

I don't think it is an expert job to do the four wheel tracking
I'm not sure is kwik-fit offer four wheel alignment anyway, just take it to a respectable garage and they will use lasers to get it bang on.
My local garage is an approved Bosch garage and they do it for £50

Thanks for the info. I've found a classic Mini specialist near Lincoln that deals with 4 wheel alignment for road and track. £50+ vat is pretty reasonable I think!
