I initially had that too Steve, but I recently changed out my fronts. I have an ET40 and I got some weird wear patterns. So this is a bit of an experiment.

Oh I have T1R's ont eh Rear and Proxes 4's on the fronts now.  :-) :-) :-)

Stuck with the 215 on the rear and 195 on fronts 40 / 17 inch

Been running those for years and so far it's been fine with no slips or rear ending only difference

Went for the Uni Royals instead of the Continetals due to my mileage being only 5500 to 6000 a year and the contis have plenty of tread left but beginning to show their age with cracking so advise was not to go for such a hard wearing tyre due to low mileage as it would be waste of another £ 120 and the same would happen ie they would age rather than wear

s:?: :?: s:?:  With 7j 17s is it possible to have 205/40 at the front and 225/40 at the rear?

Slightly off topic, but what's a Roadster like on 17s all round? My facelift is currently on 16s front and 17s rear, but I thought I'd read somewhere that they get a bit wavy on the front end with anything larger than 16"?

"The whats it like on 17s?", is going to be somewhat subjective. Not for me, but clearly some are very happy.
As I say, purely subjective. But when I tried, my 2 was not at all happy.

They have to be very light 17s for me.
Heavy wheels do this car no favours.
And the price of tyres dear god!
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

as scott suggests
probably more to do with the extra weight than 17s per say? se?

Depends how light your rims are.
I am happy with my 17's all round. Ran 15's before and there wasn't much difference to my mind.  s:-D :-D s:-D

There you go. Subjective like I said.
There is no right or wrong to this just personal pref. Though Mr T with his large R+D budget thought 15F 16R was the best option.
Like all these things one thing has a direct/indirect affect on another.
Weight or rim
weight of tyre
Quality of tyre
Age and condition of suspension
Many many variables.

If you can the best option is to try someone elses before committing yourself.

205 on the front and 225 on the rear. If I did it again I'd get 17's for the rear and 16's for the front.   If you have 17's on the front and 205 tyres you would need to use a 40 profile tyre which in my opinion are too hard.  If you have 16's up front you could use a 45 or 50 profile.

I've been running Toyo T1R 205/40/R17 Front and 215/40/R17 rear.

I fancy a change and going a bit fatter.

Am looking at Hankook v12 evo2 or Yokohama S Drives 235/35/R17 rear and either 205/40/R17 or 215/40/R17 Front.

Any thoughts on these tyres or set up I've got BC Coilovers on

Cheers

is the main reason to change styling, or performance?
i've been happy with 15f/16r running 225/40 at the rear, but wondering if there is a better performance option?

What width rims are you running?
235 on a 7" is not recommended.
