Quote from: "Sadlebag"So you have two 2zz engines... Well that's just greedy! I've been looking into the half cages to as they provide a good base for harnesses! Think I did see you at the pod last year, I have a pic on my laptop which I'll upload for you when I get back home!

I have 3 2zz LOL
I personally think if your going to track your car. A rear cage is a must do for safety on our 2  s:) :) s:)  dooooo itttt. Get put that cred card lol

Small update

1) ordered my rear cage from protection & performance. Should be here mid April

2) strip out the rest of carpet and other unwanted plastic

3) brought some lotus wheels to try out. Gotta get them refurb before putting some rubber on.

Front
6.8kg
ET 31.5
16 x 5.5!  s:( :( s:(  ( my fault as I was blind not to see this )

Due to wheel size I'm planning on using 185/195-50-16 and soften up the front ARB

Rear
8.7kg
ET 38 (NOT ET 18 on wiki)
17 x 7.5

Planning on 235-45-17

I'll keep my facelift wheels for now just incase this set up is REALLY bad. If it's okie and I can handle the lost then it will be up for sale in the next few weeks.

Hi Vietts, I have read the thread and im even more excited about my rotrex project for the summer if all goes well, my main concern was traction or lack of it with the power your running. I've been told to expect 300 bhp or there about by the garage that's installing the rotrex kit, whats your thoughts on traction can you use all the power without spinning it all away. Awesome work by the way mate   s:D :D s:D

Hello mate
Tbh once you get the car moving it's drive like a very strong NA car.boost builds up with the rpm so it's a smoother ride all the way till redline. I'm using standard wheels and tyres at the moment it's fine as long you don't go too mental on the right foot you be good to go.

Update

Went to visit a good friend up north Lee aka Se7en motorsports for a long overdue catchup on sat and while we was there he installed my piper stage 2 cams   s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:   this should give me a little more mid range power/torque once it's all retune soon.
Thanks bro

Hi Vietts, I thought before that I'd read the name of the company that made your exhaust, but can't see it now... can you remind me please matey?

I have a 2zz to put back together and a rotrex 30-74 sat in a box somewhere, but the project has been on hold for about 2 years as I bought a house and got married, so I'm going N/A 2zz to keep it simple... but out of curiosity, what was the cost for ECU and tuning?

Hi jonty the company who made my exhaust is called Solid Fabrication. Alan is the guy who own the company and made my whole system. If you need he's contact details let me know and I'll shoot you a pm.

I heard many people who own a 2zz mr2 and some has said its not really worth the convert as its not much different to the 1zz.if I was in your position I would wait out another year to get the rotrex installed as it is sooooo worth the wait. If not you'll have to drop the engine again to get the rotrex on. It will be a mission.

Hi vietts, thanks for the name. I have a 200sx for purely track duties, I just want the mr2 as a road car and occasional use it on track. I like how the mr2 drives, but with shorter gears and more up top I think it'll be ideal. I've got so many ideas and projects and only limited funds that something's gotta give, and for now that is the rotrex!

Front gas strut

Rear gas strut

Strip the carpet and some unwanted plastic. Change the seat mount for lower seat persitioned

Rotrex oil filter and oil change at 4k miles. Wanted to get rid of the bed-in oil for some fresh stuff. Rotrex also changed their oil grade to sx150 instead of the old sx100.

Should be good for the next 40k-50k miles  s:) :) s:)

Got the car tuned today at TDI in essex. I want to thanks the team for a amazing job they done on the car and I will definitely coming back to use their service again. Very professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Before

This was done on the fly.

After

Tuned after cams, recirc bov and smaller piping exhaust
Figure show 280 WHP - 330 ish on the fly
Mid range now pulls ALOT harder and cold start is now sorted.

I need to get myself back to dynohayes to get a true ccomparison.will update this once it's done

Thats a great bhp figure.
Truly surprised at how low the torque is in comparison.
Trait of the 2zz no doubt.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

It's mainly the mid range torque which surprise me most.  Don't know why I didn't install my cams when I built this engine.

Thanks mate. Yes I'm planning on some spats.but I gotta adjust my exhaust a little to make way for the rear diffuser. That's enough spending for me for now. It's time to enjoy her a little  s:) :) s:)
I wanna get use to handling the car first as it stand before doing any real aero work on the car. In that way I know what works and what doesn't.
