Just thought I'd pu this out there to see what the 'expert' opinion might be...

Just had phone call from garage to say my '03 with 107k miles on the clock has failed its MOT (for the first time since I've had it) on the emmsions...  s:( :( s:(   They have not given me a cause as yet; the call was just  to give me the news and the fact the car will not be ready to collect...

Its currently runninig very well, even more so since the new cluch a few months ago (good run out to North Wales over the weekend) and i've never had any engine related issues aside form it needing a new o2 sensor a couple of years ago now. The only thing that I have noticed recently is an oily smell on start up. Oil level is good

Anybody any suggestions/ thoughts on what the casue could be or is it too vague a question...?

what bit of the emissions did it fail on as it will tell you if it oxygen, oil or fuel related
