Well done Norman.
Keep at them.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Right PITA........its almost worth not bothering with insurance and sorting it yourself.

What we have is the missing pin clips, the wheel has been repaired and the colour is really the wrong silver and the finish isnt that clever, worst of all there are scratches on the bumper, deep in the paint that have been blown over almost from the headlight to the Toyota Badge - not there when the car was picked up.

On the plus side they gave the n/s headlight lense a dam good polish better than I could do.

Will be phoning them on Monday!

Give the err my hell and document everything for the insurance company. This happened to me once and the preferred repairer was removed from their list and sued for claiming repairs to damage they had done themselves.

+1 to Nic's advice.

In the past I have had to get an "approved repairer's" work fixed elsewhere.

I'm sure they'll sort it for you Norman, I've had similar issues twice on the Saab and on a Clio. Just seems to be par for the course for insurance body shop repairs. Get it in quickly, keep it for as long as you can, especially if you've got a loan car, repair it in the shortest time and get it back to the customer (is that you or the insurance company?).

This seems to be taking forever. A member on here had his car bumped on a carpark recently damaged the rear 1/4 panel and rear wheel from time of accident to handing the car over was less than 3 weeks. Time in body shop 7 working days for geo check repair and paint rear 1/4 panel and blend the door. All parts were stripped off for the paintwork so no nasty masking lines and the dirt shield clips that either snapped or were missing were replaced.

It might have something to do with the body shop I have to deal with! I wont say any more just yet.

Well shes back but not right, issues have been raised with the insurance company and discussed with their engineers as there were possible implications to myself, awaiting bodyshop now.

Irritation factor now at very high!

Strewth Norm, you really have had to wrestle with the problems other people have caused you. You have managed to save the car though and you are nearly there. Hang in there matey.

Booked in for the remedials for next Monday, noticed the weekend that the bumper paint is badly stress cracked, water laying on the wax polished finish showed up the cracks as if a dye pen test had been conducted. Never seen that in a paint finish to that degree as it covers a good area up to the badge. Lets hope its sorted now?????

I had a similar problem with my daughters car, the insurance approved repairer repaired the car to a sub standard. My daughter was advised then by the insurance company the repairer should have another chance at repairing it. However when it was returned it was still poor. They then sent a engineer to come and inspect the repair I was there then he agreed with everything we said and ended up settling on giving my daughter £800 to get the car repaired by another bodyshop.

Now I am dam upset, had the body shop phone me this morning asking questions about the bumper stating that the area in the picture is stone chips and old damage, put him straight firmly that yes I know about the stone chips you cant help them on bloody UK roads, the old damage that he referred to was the bloody damage done by them with a quick blowover of paint, twisting and cracking the paint as the paint is showing stress cracks in a large area, I was bloody fuming! Then asked can they send someone over to look, told them yes the cars outside only to find out from the good lady that the guys stuffed a bit of paper through the door with a picture and a circle on it say stone damage and old repairs. To the best of my knowledge having had the car 10 years the long scratch like marks were never there before Lancasters got hold of the car.

The spoke to the insurance engineer and vented some of my fury in a nice way explaining whats happened, couldnt be more apologetic and said cant understand what they are going on about. The cars going in Monday afternoon and a insurance engineer will be there first thing Tuesday morning. I suspect its a bloody big cop out by Lancasters so as they dont have to pay for the rectification of the bumper blaming chips and old damage. To make things worse they filled a dent in on the door so as they could blow over the door for a good colour match which is good but wasnt part of my claim - that was a worry as I didnt want to be accused of a fraudulant claim. I dont trust them never have and never will based on my dealings when they were Lookers. Engineer said I was being very reasonable in expecting my car to be back and finished inside a week under these circumstances.

These guys are crap at customer service and quality so beware!!!!!!

It went back into the bodyshop on Monday for remedials, not happy on comments received back like wont be able to match wheel colour - ignoring the fact I told them not to do it in the first place and declining offer to spray back wheel based on seeing the poor finish of the one sprayed. Bumpers to be repainted - they blaming the oven drying process for the appearance of the cracks - those originating from an earlier repair - well not in the time I have owned the car I might add. I cant see a crack of 2 mm width and 160 mm length opening up? Seeking professional advice from a Paint Manuafacturers Technican who used to work for me prob the largest supplier to the industry I might add. Told them i want it back on Friday
