Was it low on oil at all?
Is it using oil?

really depends on if it's a deep knock or just a rattle.
Rattles can be heat shields on the exhaust ... they have a frequent habit of corroding and the welds go ... then you get rattles.
A deep knock in the engine is indicative of big end failure, so you really need to get it checked out by someone you trust and can listen to it.
