They improve the car. Period. If you have one you would be a fool to sell it on.

Everyone likes them best pound for pound handling mod.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I do seem to remember that an almost identical thread was created a little while ago. Might be worth having a search for it. There were many replies on that.

I do think you have sort of answered your own question there, generally they are more effective on those 2s with less factory fitted bracing. I believe a lot of people agree with Scott's comment on bang for your buck. Personally I love mine on my PFL and wouldn't be without it.

Mine is an 03 & felt the difference immediately. As someone said to me, it allows the suspension to do what it's supposed to do.

I had the opportunity a couple of months back to drive an 03 without the brace & it was immediately obvious to me that it didn't have the brace fitted. Could feel the car moving much more underneath me.

For £120? well worth the money IMHO (from some1 not hugely into mods).

I've driven a car with a corkys brace and one with matts brace Matts wins hands down.

Both very good, but there are various versions of Corky braces, including 2 different under body items. 1 is just in the central area and one does central and cross brace together. Those are fairly hard to find these days though.

I've had my mr2 for three years now. Its my third mr2 (both previous were facelift too). I just fitted Matt's brace about 4 weeks ago (bought it from his eBay page). I'm absolutely gutted that I didn't get one sooner and on my previous cars. The difference is huge on facelift - my other half could even feel it when she last drove. Steering is much more responsive, at speed if feels like there's less of a delay. Even going over bumps the car feels more solid.

It should be everyone's first mod.

Quote from: "SuperArt"It may seem I've answered my own question but I'm mainly after some statistics in the form of how many late FL owners have noticed a substatial handling imrovement with the part fitted vs those who have not.
Captain and scotte both have facelift cars and are in support of it while in another thread an 04 owner claims that matts brace did nothing but when he changed to corkys he instantly felt the difference. Though let's not let this become corkys vs matts brace.
I am going to apply some gravitex on the brace and do the install over the weekend. I suppose there's no harm in trying before thinking of selling!
Thanks folks.

Got one?

Fit it and se how it feels.

Then come back and report it.

Sometimes you've got to just do these things.

Plus any comments posted here will be personal opinion.

Been thinking about getting one of these before the summer,  are they still available,  haven't seen them on ebay recently.

Best bracing mod of them all. Ive had uprated rear upper brace, not much if any difference. Front upper strut brace makes a noticeable difference to the feel of the car, but matts brace improved the car so much I really believe it should of been fitted as standard from the factory. Mines a facelift car too.

Totally worth it.... There's a motorway slip entry near me that means a change of direction over a crest that had a wicked surface .... Before brace I winced every time at the scuttle shake and the skip the car did towards the barrier. Now with brace it tracks straight and true not being deflected by the surface.... Flippin spears through now.

From all of you saying they are great, how many have fitted it to an 05+ car?

It made a difference to my 06.
What did they add in 05 to make you ask?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Bracing to the Roadster was altered in 04, and stayed the same until production end as far as I know.

I'm struggling to get hold of Matt via PM and ebay, has anyone seen one of his braces for sale anywhere?

Thanks

He's been in Japan the last week so may not have been able to get back to you.  If you still haven't made contacted by next weekend, I can pass on your details if you'd like as I'll be seeing him then.

If you could that would be great. I PM'd him a while ago and tried contact via ebay before xmas so if you could pass on details that would be good, thanks
